All they need is 1 company to make Aps film and it will have a resurgence! Lomography or someone make APS 400 film!

Recently shot a roll of APS film in a Pronea 600i with a new Nikon lens for digital cameras! Those lenses are so extremely fast and quiet, nowadays! The combination of the 90s camera and brand new lens is amazing :) I don't agree with you about digital photography being the death of APS. APS was dead long before digital photography became widely availabe. The film rolls were to expensive, the quality was not as good as 35 mm, most labs didn't invest in the machines to read out the data and often disregarded the format factor and printed everything as APS-H. Also, new 35 mm cameras like the mju or GR1 were about just as small as the APS cameras. I think I might have seen a Canon IXUS or two back in the day, but that's about it - at a time when everybody had a camera.

Just found a Minolta Vectis 30 in my grandparent’s garage and I’ve been educating myself about it to use. This video helps a lot with the learning process! TY 🥰

I’we developed a method to get the film out of the canister and into a dev. tank inside a changing bag. I develop C41 as stand development at room temperature. Last bit that i haven’t solved is getting it back into the canister and ready for scanning in my Canon FS4000 scanner that can scan a whole roll directly from the canister. The results are pretty decent, and if you consider people that use half frame cameras, this is not very different format wise, I think it’s worth giving APS a chance. By the way, black and white was also produced in APS format but in small quantities. I have only once found some expired rolls.

Do you have a developing reel that is the size of APS film? Wondering how you developed the film. Thanks!

APS was advertised as having a finer grain structure. Of course the only way for that to be possibly true on a smaller frame size, is if a new chemical formula is used on the APS film and not used on the other films. Eventually what happened is the chemical formula changed on other films like 35mm and 120 to give finer grain structure. When APS came out I just stuck to using 35mm.

I recommend AFGF FUTURA (but blast it with sunlight when shooting), FUTURA 2 and STAR APS film because if you can get it, it tends to yield the best results, followed by Kodak. Konica Minolta is the worst and though I want to try a roll, Fuji has had mixed results form what I have seen from others. Thanks for the video!

Did you get the APS film developed in Dublin? If so where?

Great video. Like how you showed the comparison between 35mm and the APS film sizes. I didn’t know APS film had sprockets. Yeah I’ll pass on investing in expired APS film today as they don’t make developing reels that size so I can’t develop it myself. Keep up the great work! Cheers from USA 🇺🇸!

I owned a Minolta S1 APS SLR in the late 90s as well as a pocketable APS camera. The quality of the prints were poor. I tried a number of labs but none offered acceptable prints. I by far preferred 35mm films and also the ability to process black & white myself. I feel APS was designed as an improved 110 upgrade but labs didn't offer what the film itself was capable of offering.

This film is kinda similar to the 110 pocket films whenever you look at the negatives.

I found 3 rolls of APS film at my parents house this weekend. One is fully exposed, one is partially exposed and one of them for some reason doesn't have the white symbol on the bottom in any of the categories. Do you think this means it hasn't been used at all or what else could it be? Also the roll that is partially exposed, should I try finishing it off in a camera?

Given the age of the film I would just have them all developed at once. I would not risk the pictures on the partially exposed roll. There might be some hidden gems on it.
