I’m convinced everything before the 80s was made to last and everything after that was just made to be replaced.
@GenericScreenName808
2 ай бұрын
You’re 100% correct, they needed jobs for all the guys coming back from war and their boomer kids, plus the GI bill was essentially socialism subsidizing college and homes in the 1950s which needed to be furnished and being a repair man was a honorable career. When they realized the potential for plastics and outsourcing and the advent of corporations it was all about shareholders and profits not about keeping Americans gainfully employed. I read last week the average dishwasher lasts 5-7 years now; when 10 years ago they lasted 15-20. I’m still on the fence about when they decided to actively start poisoning consumers though… has to be the 90’s

Or, crazy thought, the stuff that didn't last from those times isn't around anymore and you just have survivor bias. I don't even know how your comment is relevant to hair gel honestly, it's not a product made for longevity in any time period. No ones buying hair gel with the intent for it to last them 30 years.
