I disagree and wouldn't really recommend this spot. My opinion is based on what I've tried, know and maybe I'm being too bit picky...BUT hey if you enjoyed and liked it then I'm glad and if people want to try it I won't/ can't stop them. In their defense, though it's a quick grab-and-go spot so for that factor it's okay for something quick. As my tita/aunt says "pwede na" meaning good enough. However, I still believe there are better places to try than this spot. I know this place as when I visit family I at one point end of my trip end up in that Vietmaese grocery at the other end of that block. I have tried both home-cooked (family and friends versions) and restaurant Filipino food and in my opinion that place isn't really good and my family and I wouldn't recommend it unless you're starving and there's no other place to go to. If anything, I would recommend the buffet section in the Vietnamese grocery at the other end over this block as they have a better selection. Honestly, from the handful of times I did order dishes from the two places there in the past I was disappointed as it lacked flavoring, halo halo was missing "toppings" aka mostly ice and milk and as you mention at times the meat was tough. Now the only time I go there is when my cousin is craving a Turon (fried banana spring roll). If I do enter that area there are only 1-4 people and/or one giant table of a meeting that gives off bible or something serious. I don't want to eavesdrop so not really sure but the vibe is kind of serious and it's relatively quiet. The fact there's a lack of people and very few options there supports my opinion that the place isn't the best......BUT this is just my opinion. -White rice is served with the adobo because adobo is supposed to be saucy. The rice absorbs the extra sauce/marinate. How I eat it is using a fork, pushing rice soaked in sauce with a piece of chicken onto a spoon for the perfect bite. ( For most meals spoon and fork are used together to create that perfect bite.)The blandness of the rice counters/balances the flavor of the protein whether adobo or something else. -Kwek Kwek is traditionally a quail egg. What you got was a chicken egg. I can only assume that they couldn't find quail eggs for this batch Or chicken egg is just easier to find. -The sauce is vinegar with other stuff that I would need to taste to figure out. Vinegar is a staple in our cooking/food. Adobo, for one, is a ratio of vinegar and soy sauce (each household has a different ratio..can't tell you how much it's a feel aka eyeballing the ratio) along with bay leaves, black pepper, garlic, etc and maybe other stuff depending on the person's recipe. Vinegar is also a very good dip/sauce, especially with pork rinds which we call chicharron. From what I could see: -First foods you showed looked like caldereta (the red one...beef stew with potatoes, carrots in a tomato sauce), Talong (roasted whole eggplant), Laing (taro leaves in coconut milk) -second shop: the black dish is Dinuguan (pig blood stew; meat is usually pork)

Haha that’s fair xD I do agree there are many better spots for Filipino foods as well. Although the time that I went the flavor of the foods was actually quite good. Some foods were over cooked I think like the sisig and the pork skewers were pretty tough, but the flavor was nice. What Filipino restaurants do You think is good In houston? I definitely want to go try more places haha

Ya I realized that. I was kind of surprised because I was expecting a much smaller egg.
