The disparity between Eric's calm demeanour and his unhinged aggression on the chess board is one of the great paradoxes of our time.

At 26:44 he missed Ng5 though, threatening to take the locked bishop and Black can’t take back with the king bc of the rook discovery, and Black’s rook on f8 is trapped. He could have had an endgame with a rook up rather than a pawn up.

At 16:59 Eric said "I could have been in a lot of trouble there" as he was missing Qf7 mate. At the end of the game he must of read it "did I miss mate in one?" BUT he could have forced mate several times after it missing mate in two several times even as his opponent knew and was trying to get away from the mate in two sacrificing all his pieces for the life of his king. How noble.

So strange how the game went from “hyper realistic counter terrorism cqc” to whatever it is now. I played through year 1 and 2 and until then every operator had a gadget that was realistic, practical, and had a real world counterpart. Came back recently and there’s holograms, electric shields, nanobots, grapple hooks, laser wallsc ice(?) walls, smoke walls. I get there’s only so many realistic gadgets for them to add but I don’t enjoy the sci fi junk getting mixed in when it doesn’t fit the game.
