Why not The ToSeven DM02 of 01 (I have only installed a few so far, but I have been impressed)? TS messed up factory programming on their TSDZ2, but there was a time when its lightweight and torque sensing made it ideal for most of my customers (installed a gross of them). My experience with OSF has been disastrous. Bafang requires so much extra wiring, it is heavy and their antique chips make it slow to respond to cut-offs. I don't have any customers willing to invest in The CYC Photon though I hear it has come a long way from the initial problems that scared me away. Would really like to see a comparison between The 8 and both The TwoSeven motors (Bafang and CYC programming right at the display). While I have been impressed, I have only seen reviews by wholesalers.

Your previous videos had always inspired me and I wanted to try to build a bike too. I waited years... I was intrigued by the torque sensor, but the reviews of the Tsdz2/b had never convinced me. At the beginning of the summer I saw this new Tsdz8 model. I bought it and mounted it on a riverside 500. Apart from the first level of assistance, which is too weak, I find that the engine works very well and with a 13ah battery the km range is impressive . Now I hope sooner or later you will make a guide to update the firmware. Thanks @LukeLorusso for the inspiration.

Hey Filippo! Yeah, first level is insignificant, but some people appreciate it because it just absorb the extra motor and battery weight, and let you go at "human speed". What can I say... I really want to update the firmware, even though now I have less time in my life. Still, I will keep posting videos! Thanks to you for the trust 💪

There have been firmware revisions for this model already, if you aren't running the latest you might run into .. 'known issues . The assistance given at levels 1 and 2 has been changed, for one.

nope I should not! 😊 this is an "unboxing and installation" video. I should report facts, not hypothesis. If someone buys this motor now, this is what it gets. Firmware update is another topic/story. Oh by the way, you mentioned the existence of a new firmware. Is there a link from official and verified sources that you can paste to prove this statement?

Hi Luke. I'm waiting for your assessment of the motor as I always found your videos very informative. I'm surprised with your comments about the throttle as, you may have the oldest firmware version on it. I watched some other reviews where it was mentioned an improvement with some later firmware. Also to the motor responses are better tuned but for what I heard they are still not 100% there. The good news here is that Tongsheng seems to be supporting the community and releasing new firmwares with mods suggested.

Hey ukrytykrytyk8477, thank you for your trust! You're right, I also read that article mentioning recent updates, but I didn't find yet any procedure, nor any firmware to download. I imagine it might be a similar procedure as for the TSDZ2... we'll see 😄 That about Tongsheng supporting the community is huge news! 🤞

In the settings you change the A? what does this exactly? In the manual is says: Assist ratio setting, what happens when you max it to 36 or put it on the minimum 6?
@LukeLorusso
10 күн бұрын
that's basically the max level of Ampere the motor will "suck" out of the battery. this way I allow the motor to get more of it
@StarsAtNight1
10 күн бұрын
@@LukeLorusso Does it limits the peak power? I searched online but get mixed answers.. Have you tried it to confirm this? For example if you would limit it to 6A you would basically get a 53v x 6A, 318Watt peak motor?
@LukeLorusso
10 күн бұрын
I'm not sure I understand your question. It's supposed to be an Ampere limit, in both cases: peak and constant. I raised it because I'm aware that batteries can provide peaks higher than the declared capacity, if necessary, and I don't want the motor to prevent them. But it can be also used to reduce the Watt/h of the battery, as in your example. In this case, again, both peak and constant A will be limited

@@LukeLorusso I'm still doing research because I'm thinking of buying it. From what I have read this motor is a lot more reliable than the tsdz2b. I have seen a review where the tzdz8 has a peak power of 1100W, my goal would be to try to get it more in line with the e-bikes that can be bought on the market (that have a peak power around 600/700/800Watts). So it would not be classified as a Pedelec that requires insurance. This would also result in less wear on the drive train.

it's a good idea if you want to save energy, and make it look like a "less powerful" motor, but I guess you know it won't make it legal if the limits are more restrictive

Luke, thank you for your video. I am interested in a setup that would be good for long distance riding. Something that can go over 100km distance if possible, even on a hilly terrain. I would like to have the natural feeling of riding, but I would also like to have the option to adjust the assistance when I get tired. Which motor and setup would you recommend ? I suppose the best way is to try different setups and see which one feels the best, but for some reason nobody is riding mid-drive ebikes, at least not the ones that are assembled.

Hey joaomarveloso, those are lot of km! 😄 Look, a Tongsheng motor is less energy hungry than a Bafang. But if you need long range, you need high capacity batteries. At the end of this video kzitem.info/news/bejne/xmd8mqCQnnWDiKg I mentioned a double battery setup. So, if you go 48V TSDZ8, double 20Ah battery, low level of assistance, you might be able to acheive it... but then your bike will also be way heavier! I guess you have to go step by step, trying and adjusting. If you go for it, keep me posted! 🙌
