Great demonstration. I'm new to woodworking and have been paying my mandatory dues with regard to common and costly mistakes. I really liked that you started with a board that had 4 sides completely out of square with each other. The end result is a true test of how effective the GRS-16 is at making your work square. You sold me. Thanks!

i have the PE version so both top and bottom are squared. i also have the woodpecker (the red one) you spoke of. the woodpecker uses tension knobs on the bottom that get in the way and is not flat like the tso product. the woodpecker's tension knobs also come loose under vibration so it does not remain true. i could never get my mft table to this square using the same 4 cut test you just did. this is the best track square option on the market. zero calibration. zero re-checks. no obnoxious parts underneath to get in the way and will lay flat. thanks for making the video!

Looks good. Thanks for video. I do wish that you had made a 5th cut then measure the width of the off-cut at each end. The same way you dial in a perfect cross cut sled. The 5 cut method amplifies any error by a factor of 4, making it easier to determine the actual error per inch. Please note that this isn’t going to slow down my purchase any.

I'm glad you talked about it. I've been looking for an unbiased review and now I'm gonna order one. Also, the designer for the GRS is pretty accessible. He actually returned my call to discuss his product and what I was wanting to achieve. Coincidentally he actually insisted that (at the time) the GrS would not help me accomplish what I needed done. But since I'm going to be building kitchen cabinets I'm going to invest in one.

Nice job. This unit looks good. I have the Festool protractor gizmo. It is not up to snuff. I have the red one which will not hold true over time. I don't know if it vibrates loose, twists as the guide might have fallen or what. In any event, the only thing that counts is SQUARE repeatedly. I will check just about everything I do with it by measuring the diagonals, checking with the great red square, etc. I would like to hear from someone who has switched from Red to TSO

I love the saw - It feels solid in the hand and has been flawless in the 2 years that I have owned it. I have not used the Festool saw so I cannot really compare it. I was also nervous about the 1 yr warranty and at the time Timberwolf was the only seller so I was concerned about service. I haven't had the need for any service but when I've needed questions answered they were handled quickly. I really like the way their rails join together. The bonus is the saw is Festool rail compatible so I was able to use parallel guides with their rail. the Mafell Users Forum is a great place to get a feel of how well users like these tools - Rod

Hi there and thanks for the video! Curious if you think I could use this same method to square up a 4x8 sheet? Would 8 foot rip cuts using the GRS-16 and a longer track still be as accurate? I have just ordered a Festool track saw and am trying to wrap my head around what accessories to buy first. I would love to only have to buy one GRS-16 right now and be able to square up, rip and cut 4x8 sheets accurately. I haven't actually seen anyone rip a 4x8 sheet with this method yet, so thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance!

I am thinking of ditching my table saw in lieu of the Festool Track Saw. Can this accurately rip styles and thin strips as a Table Saw would? I would perform all Tenon, dado and rabbit cuts with mt router on a table. Speed is not that big of an issue. Just looking for precise repeatable accuracy. What would I be sacrificing? I think I would gain safety and more space in my shop. Please advise...

Hey Kirk. Yes, it's the Bosch VAC090A. Lot's of suction with the Bosch, 150 CFM. More than Festool which are 130 or 137 CFM. The Bosch is a lot louder then the Festool CT. If you check the specs, the Bosch VAC090A is comparable to the Festool CT36. If you're buying based off the price tags, the Bosch can be bought for around $400 and the Festool CT36 is $725. Both have about a 9 gallon bag capacity. Overall, I'm happy with the Bosch. I plan on adding a Oneida Dust Deputy to it to reduce the need for changing bags and to increase the life of the filter. I have a Oneida system on my Festool CT26 and love it !

do the festool quick clamps work in the kreg workcenter?

Lucien Lasocki Nope. The holes on the Kreg table are 3/4". Festool MFT tables are 20mm holes. For the clamps it's a big difference.

That red one time Buy is just so then can try to get a higher price, myself I would never buy anything from a company that uses that way to market a tool. Just builds something good and people will buy it.

Sold my Woodpecker square on ebay yesterday for $147 plus shipping. Ordered a GR square last week. Am looking forward to using it and not having to worry about it staying square. Thanks for the heads up.

I bet most people have 2 1.5m tracks, ergo they need to be continually joining and unjoining them, mounting and dismounting this square. Think about it for less money they could buy a 3m rail, and fix a piece of aluminium to turn one of the short rails into a square. Now we have a comprehensive array of tracks and minimal down time setting up.
