Probably the purest romance I've ever seen. I was rooting for Koutarou the entire time and actually felt proud at times when he made a bold move. Exactly the same for Akane. They are both adorably pure and awkward and seeing them get closer and closer was so wholesome and cute it moved me to tears multiple times. Akane and Koutarou are both so sweet. They need to be protected.

I loved the ending of this show. Well I loved this anime as a whole, but the ending was just right. It's not that rare that anime tells us at the end about the future of the characters, but the way Tsuki ga Kirei did it with both characters texting to each other was fitting the show perfectly, as you mentioned in the video they were texting alot throught the series.

My story was so much like theirs until the end of episode four. I never got an answer from her. It took me more than half a year to realise how waiting that long for a yes or a no wasn't worth it and half a year for her to realise that she shouldn't think about it anymore. I left the school during winter break, before the second semester started, hoping to never hear from her again. I don't know how I should feel because I haven't. I'm just thankful that my worries are on no one again.

Tsuki ga kirei was very mundane and had bad and uninteresting characters, because life has bad and uninteresting characters. They aren't miyamoto musashi or teddy roosavelt. Well I didn't see any of the romcoms last season. Since most they all looked either straight up dumb (Love Tyrant) or wish fulfillment dumb (Seven Mortal Sins) and the rest kind of called into one for those two categories. Maybe ill come back to this once the BDs get release eventually.

This is a great review, but you failed to mention the expert use of sound in the series. Not just the soundtrack, but the use of silence, the use of sighs and other little things. The integration of texting is well done as well. Really the only fault I find with this show is the animation.

Definitely agree with the points you made here. I don't feel like comparing Tsuki ga Kirei with more prominent ongoing anime liike AoT or BnH since these shows are well established and as a result will have a bigger following and overall more solid base given the amount of character development already created by its previous season. But as a non sequel original anime, Tsuki ga Kirei definitely became my Anime of the Season, very enjoyable and endearing to watch from start to finish and the ending was just icing on the cake of an already terrific series.

i love how I've randomly found this anime, and then it became my favorite anime of ALL time. The only thing about it is that there is possible placebo effect on the youth (as I am currently experiencing it) as it makes love look pretty simple and beautiful after all even if it's not the case. the thing is that the amount of realism can really make it turn into a relatable thing more of than an anime, but I am so goddamn happy someone actually made a GOOD review on this anime and covered all of its points WITHOUT SHOWING THE CORE MOMENTS! I appreciate what you did a lot! Thanks for this amazing review

Tsuki ga Kirei also has great details that you wouldn't normally catch, but they add a great deal in term of characters build & development. For example, right from the bat in Episode 1. When Akane and Kotaro were picking drinks at the restaurant, Kotora switches from soda to black coffee. Obviously to "impress" Akane as he thought it would make him look "mature" to Akane (exactly what i expected from a closet edgelord lol). Only to instantly regret making that choice. That one detail was so trivial i almost missed it. But when i didn't, i knew this is the perfect anime for me.

So I tried google and found a whole lot of links and articles saying this is to have a 2nd season since its an original anime and the creators could definitely do anything with it. Otakanime I see. I think I forgot that and was only focused on the general picture. Ofc there would be struggle for them to contain a relationship for so long. Maybe I just think the movie should have ended with their tearful goodbye. A flash forward is so easy for the creator to make without feeling the consequence for the story because it’s so short but I think it changes a lot.

By the way, fantastic editing this time around, all around my favorite video from you, easily. The wait was worth it! If I had one complaint, I wish you mentioned how the show has those cathartic moments when the music starts playing and we see characters doing things. Without dialogue, without any other sounds, just seeing those people do daily things that their lives bring to them, and how it really makes you understand them and see them as normal people, which the show aims for the entire time.

I loved this show! I have to admit I did occasionally find myself bored and the visuals turned me off hard at first. In fact the only reason I stuck with it was because someone I trusted rated it so highly. And man I'm glad I did. Especially that ending, it was so beautiful and I cried and cried. Spoilers below Especially because I watched it on crunchyroll which doesn't bother to subtitle the texts in the ED. I didn't really think much of it but about 3/4 of the way through curiosity finally got the better of me and I looked it up and the site I found prefaced the translations by describing them as relationship threads from various couples that you can piece together as a fun little puzzle if you feel like it. And I just kind of accepted that without much thought and bundled them in with the fun, but unimportant, post-credit scenes. In the finale when it turned out it was them all along I just lost it. Really an amazing moment.

*Thoughts* The only good thing i can say about this is that the 2 main characters became a couple early in the show rather than it being a end goal.not many stories do this.and that is sadly the end of the good points... while they do become a couple early...it felt so empty and forced. she was interested in him before he even knew she existed for no reason. and instead of becoming friends they meet and start dating after having very few interactions... the 2nd love interest Chinatsu suffers from the same problem. with no clear reason why she is interested in Kotaro. they were not friends and have very little interaction and she just started having feelings for him.... while in story telling i do prefer characters to build a relationship before taking it to the next level. it is not necessary.my real issue is how poorly this was done. (watch *Ore Monogatari* for a good example) then you have the characters hobbies...track is good and all to stay healthy but how are you going to make a living doing that? what is Akanes career goal? and Kotaro being the opposite has a goal of becoming a writer (then still whines when he is offered LNs as a suggestion) but is wasting his time practicing this boring cringe induing dance which will not help his future at all. and Chinatsu who is just as bad as Akane is but with less screen time. add them being middle schoolers in a relationship when that is not only too young and they should be focusing on bettering themselves...Which made me incapable of caring about these characters at all. their boring, illogical and unearned relationship was just creepy and insulting to good romance stories. *Overall* i wouldn't recommend this *What is wrong with this* E1 This is a romance and the main characters are in middle school. The 3dCG clashes with the 2d. it's distracting especially when you notice how lifeless the 3d characters are when they walk. the chances of the family of the 2 main characters going to a specific place,at the same time on the same day are far too unbelievable. E4 Akane fails to understand what friends are. it is not right for her to lie to them. Akane became retarded asking why Kotaro used her friends phone to call Akane. this is obviously stupid because...not only did Kotaro just tell her that his phone was taken... but Kotaro didn't know her number...Kotaro literally had no choice but to ask a friend of Akane for help...which...she knew was in the area... E5 Akane being jealous. the poor guy cannot even have female friends... ...love triangle...when you have so many people in he world (and you're in middle school..) why do 2 or more girls have to have feelings for the same person?...you already know the supporting character never wins....this is really pointless and annoying... E6 i understand Kotaros mother worries about his future. but it does get annoying when every time we see her in a scene. she is lecturing the poor kid about studying and grades... Chinatsu apologizes for having feelings for someone (this made me sick...what is suppose to be a robot?) E7 i couldnt feel anything from Chinatsu being heartbroken. there was no connection with her and Kotaro. most of the scenes that "could" of built their relationship were usually interrupted by someone... we don't know much about her besides her doing Running. and her feelings felt forced (just like the female lead) this as just a weak attempt to get people to pity her. middle school age kids kissing E8 besides just saying religion in general...(and ignoring Kotaro praying to a god for something as mundane as winning a footrace..) in this episode he pays about 10 dollars for some "blessings" to increase the chance of having a relationship. this is a scam. and even worse because these are middle schoolers. they don't even have jobs to be wasting money... they could of ended the series here. they already achieved all the standards of a normal relationship. E10 Akane tells Kotaro through a text message that she is going to be moving...you are suppose to tell people these things with words preferably in person. not with a text service... but then...Kotaro calls Akane and asks her where she is going despite the fact that she included that information in the message... now Kotaro is jealous...the scumbag doesn't have the right to make her feel bad for talking with others... i drop the anime here it's been unnecessary and it is still going...
