The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens. He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures. Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish. The portion of Jacob is not like them: for He is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of His inheritance: The LORD of hosts is His name.

Going from "oh look a puddle creeping towards me" to "there goes a couple of buildings floating down the road" in a matter of minutes is absolutely mindblowing

That's why you don't mess with Mother Nature. Since this day in 2011 the NHK (Japan's national broadcaster) news reporters will heighten their sense of urgency once a tsunami warning goes out.
I've lived thru 2 floods and lost everything both times. Neighbors and strangers came together to help and I'll never forget the sense of community that came from it.
Even after nearly 12 years we're speechless, heartbroken seeing it again, and again... God bless you my Japanese friends, you have a beautiful country I been there 2 times. Courage !!

I am awestruck by the fury of nature. Bless the people who were taken by her.

WE are so lucky that that cameraman grabbed the camera as he ran... Excellent footage of this horrific, mind-boggling event. One of the things that has struck me, has been the NOISE during the tsunami, and the SILENCE the following day, as survivors ventured out to see the extent of the destruction. All, heartbreaking... You have stayed strong, Japan. Well done!
Thank you. I've seen several videos and noticed the dark water. I was wondering about that. After your comment, I can see why so many people would have died by swallowing this black water despite being saved from the tsunami.

Wow, I live in South Florida I always wondered how devastating one of these would be for Miami. I've seen what Hurricanes can do, but this is different.
Что поделать змля движется хоть и немного но ; вот плиты вызывают таке . Это такой естественный процесс и может ненадо так близко к воде строиться, чуть подальше и то бы не такие потери.
Aaron, I agree. Cameraman is putting his or her lives on the line for some AWESOME footage. Virginia Beach, Va 🌞

That camera man deserves a medal. Balls of absolute steel. Terrifying footage shot like he was filming something peaceful and calm. This is heartbreaking to say the least.

@@TechTokOffical He positioned himself at this small hill beforehand, as it's a designated evacuation site. So he knew he could retreat up higher as he needed to, to survive. That's why he could continue to shoot without panicking.

@@Fister_of_Muppets For the last several decades the Japanese federal government has been building seawalls as well as tsunami evacuation sites. The latter include places on hills and mountain slopes which were reinforced with concrete to protect them from the force of the water, and stairs and ramps to access them. This hill is such a site, as can be seen by the sign at the bottom of the stairs which gets knocked over by the floating white SUV at 3:25. It's also why evacuees are shown looking down at the destruction at 1:36, and why another amateur video taken on this street shows people hurrying to get to this hill at the start of the warning. So it's safe to say that the professional video cameraman who shot this didn't just walk out to some random street corner to take this. He planned to be able to retreat up this hill to save his life, if necessary - which it was.

It’s crazy at how slow it starts and then the whole place turns into an ocean in a short time.
The cameraman had me worried at first. I was wondering why he was so calm as the water approached. Thankfully he was near a hill to climb, as I couldn't imagine being caught in such a force.
Nice of KZitem to recommend me all these tsunami videos on the 10 year anniversary. I’m depressed watching them, but I can’t stop. Hats off to this guy recording so close
It is interesting that he shows the people filming the same event on their phones from a different location. If you see other uploaded videos you can see people higher up recording this disaster, AND you see the guy who was filming this particular video. Somewhere I saw a video recorded from the top floor of that large white building across the street, the one that kind of looked like a bank - the 3 or 4 story one.

So quick.. Everything was wiped by the wave within around 5 minutes 😢
Usually, "Give them zoom and they'll ruin the shot." That doesn't apply here. Seems to have been a pro cameraman. Remain calm and film while his world around him seems to end. A frightening documentary for posterity about what happened to the people of Japan on that memorable day. R.I.P. and love from Austria. R.I.P. and love from Austria

I have never seen such a case in my life. It is very uncomfortable. People's lives and property are seriously damaged and nothing is safe. May God help you.
The sheer amount of destruction is unbelievable. I thought I was baffled when the tsunami ripped off part of the railing on the bridge but when the cameraman got to the top and showed the city just being swept away in ashes I was speechless. All it took was 6 minutes and the whole town was gone.

Terrifying and bizarre at the same time. It doesn’t seem real to see large objects floating down a main street! Just totally devastating!
