When I get my 660 I am going to mod the heat shield around the cat. Run the cat vent down under. That will channel the bulk of the heat under and away from the right foot/leg.

I’d be interested if you feel all that was still necessary after you take ownership of one and ride it for a while. I have yet to ride mine in the sweltering heat in gear to really say it’s a problem or not. So far, I can tolerate it.

Do you get more heat on your legs, coming off the radiators? I have 300 miles on my new Tuareg and the heat is incredible. It in the 60s here in the North East too, but bike is borderline un-ridable in the slow woods stuff I'm doing. Ugh.

Hey there, so I probably get a little more heat, if you can imagine that. However, personally, I haven't had too much trouble with the heat off the cat on the right side, but that's probably because I'm not doing really slow speeds per se. I'm also not kitted out in any legit gear, just jeans and work boots for the most part. I think the only way to reduce the heat is to get a straight through exhaust system, which I think requires a remap of the fueling. Kinda expensive, but I might do it down the road, not to reduce the heat, although that'll be a nice plus, but for more power, better sound, and of course, the looks.

I took off the pipes with the cat expecting to reduce heat but nothing happened.it still comes so much heat, especially on the highway with over 30 degrees outside.its not a bike for the Mediterranean summer.very bad design

@@dimitrisntouzos8615 certainly not a bike for the greek summer :P. The only way to get rid of the heat is to buy proper winter pants without any mesh or craft some macgyver heat resistant pants. I tried everything the bike is unbearable above 35+ degrees.

I understand the heat is mostly from the catalytic converter which is beneath the vents.. has that improved?!?
@ocdmoto
2 жыл бұрын
Michael, no, not really. If anything, there may be more heat in that area. However, it's not unexpected or disappointing. Rather, knowing those vents are open to allow more airflow through the radiator is more satisfying than any heat I'm experiencing. Honestly, I just kick out my knee if it gets too hot and ride on. I'm surprised so many people are concerned about the heat one experiences from that area, considering all the other pluses of the bike, it's really minor in comparison. Granted, I griped about it in my first video, but I was just giving my first impressions as I felt them. I'm not concerned about the heat, at least not now.

@@ocdmoto I test ride one today , I didn’t notice the heat , but it’s still winter in Australia and I live in the southern Part of Aus were it’s Cold in winter . Maybe a FILL pipe would get rid of the heat and the restrictive Cat as the same time .

So basically open the vents is more aesthetic than anything? However you are also saying it allows air to actually flow better over the radiator?
@ocdmoto
2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, not even an aesthetic thing for me, more of a mental thing knowing it's functional. It really makes sense if you see it and where the radiator fans are, etc. You ever see some cars that have fake vents or slots just for looks? Personally, I can't stand those features, and that's what the closed vents seemed like to me on this bike. And yes, I feel it allows cool air to flow better through the radiator, so a win-win for me, personally.

Actually, if you also painted the fins, that would add to the appeal of such a venture. Paint them Aprilia colors or accents to match the customer's color way. Genius man.

Really? That’s interesting you noticed a difference in temp, I just noticed my temp gauge stays consistently at two bars. However, when I posed the question on one of my videos, some viewers who had not done the mod, said their temps were the same, i.e., two bars. Anyways, I’m glad to hear you did it and reaping some benefits. For me, just knowing those vents aren’t blocked anymore was worth it.
