MIG is not wire feeding through a heated tip. In hi current welding, tip is on the contrary cooled

Not necessarily. Plenty of $100 hydroformed bikes at Walmart.

@@squiresuzuki Have to agree. My new Marin Fairfax (which I don't regard as ludicrously expensive for what you get) has hydroformed head tube, top tube, down tube and (possibly) chainstays, although they have a flat section. The fork is full carbon. This makes for a very comfortable, quick ride in what is just an urban commuter bike.

What? You mention "in the 25 yrs since tube hydroforming was developed" there were parts being manufactured over 100 years ago using hydroformed tubes.
