I love this tenner tech, This is what a real repair person should be like,,We need more people like tenner in my neighborhood..

Really interesting post and I love vintage electronics audio machines and their components.

Thank you so much, the only video I have found that physically shows the process being done.

I would use a 2 or 3 watt resistor in the same value[ohms]

Great video series! Instructables brought me here. If I may ask, any idea what to do when one of these is running too fast? I have a different brand but they're similar in build. Thought about gluing a rubber band to the idler wheel to bulk it up but was wondering if there's a proper electrical solution (add a potentiometer?). In the meantime I either stack a few extra records on it, or leave the 45 changer adapter on the spindle to provide resistance.

I seem not to understand the language......lolololol. Technical language...but I enjoyed it all the same. 800 ohm...resistor...blah, blah blah. Thumbs up to you... Wish I understood. Too old for me to learn.

It just takes becoming familiar with the terms and the actual parts. When I was younger I found electronics a bit of a mystery but now in my 40's and with a little bit of building circuits from kits, I have become familiar with a certain amount of stuff and gained 'some' understanding of the more basic electronics. My grandad used to repair electronic equipment in his shed in the 60's and 70's etc and indeed was the first person to have a colour tv in his street (and he built that himself lol).

@@bigbasil1908 I had to watch this again to update myself. I have a tube radio and I just watched this for info about the rectifier.... Was that what it was?.. lololol. This was interesting but shot over my head. I just know this thing going bad is not good. Well..... Now I know. Take care.

@@janet5610 Well I recently bought an old early 50's philips disc jockey major record player off of the fleabay to convert into a tube guitar amp and it has one of the tubes doing the job of a rectifier. The record player in this video seems to be even older, and I have never heard of selenium rectifier before. Either you have a tube acting as a rectifier or maybe you have something like a selenium rectifier in your radio. Maybe you can find online an old schematic for your radio? There's a forum where I found photos of the original instruction manual pamphlet for my record player which has the full schematics and lists the parts used (which was very handy for me to be able to order new capacitors to replace the original dead paper capacitors that are in it). I have to take it at a slow place familiarising myself with electronics stuff otherwise I won't absorb any of the information lol

how did you determine the current thru the selenium rectifier?

Amps= Volts / Ohms but what is more important is to get the output voltage to match what it should be putting out. A Sams Photofact would show that and why it is important to have one showing the circuit. But for that you need the model number which was never shown. (Emerson model P-1957?)

You may have your diode reversed. I had one reversed a long time ago, my error, and the resistor smoked right away. Reversed the diode and all was fine.
