This is a short video to show the basic steps in replacing the left axle in the widely used Tuff Torq model K46 transaxle. In my case, the left axle was bent by the previous owner(s) but it did not affect the tractors performance. Admittedly, I was intimidated by the thought of getting inside a hydrostatic transmission but once I did and realized how simple it was, I thought it would benefit others to see for themselves. I used an OSMO Action camera with head strap so there is some jerky motion. I could have done a better job with the camera but heck, for 7 minutes just deal with it, OK? I might add a Part-2 showing the final steps in refilling the housing and attaching the fan and belt wheel. I bought what I thought was the proper left axle from an Amazon seller but the new one was 1" longer than the original. What's the deal on that? Tuff Torq told me there are so many variations of K46's out there over a 40 year production run that they only sell a set of axles for a specific S/N K46. I now have two options (1) drop $260 for a set of axles while only needing one or (2) make a bushing to take up the extra length of axle. I went with (2), a new bushing.
