Tumacacori was built in January, 1691. " 'Tumacácori' is from a Native American name for "place where the wild chiles are gathered.”. It was originally located near the Santa Cruz River and later moved in 1751 to it’s current location in Carmen, AZ. It was a church to the natives in the area and it is being preserved and maintained over the years (you’ll see certain parts in the video blocked off because of this). Me and my friend Jacob originally planned on going to a really cool border town/ghost town on this day and made the long drive out on the dirt roads only to find that the gates were closed shut. I was pretty disappointed but we will hopefully get a chance to go again soon with a reservation. On the flip side, we got to stop by Tumacacori on the way home and even though I wasn’t prepared with notes on the history of this place via video, Jacob was able to provide some cool information! Don’t mind the silliness in this video, it’s always a fun time wandering around old places with your friends. I have a huge passion and respect for the sacred ness and the history of these places and it is the reason why I will spend a whole day sometimes trying to find something, even if it doesn’t go as planned. Tumacacori was not a step down though as we were greeted with such sweet folks at the park and we even played a little Townes Van Zandt cover that I always do in the Tumacacori nature trails. Bodie has a beautiful performance during the song too. The other song ft in this video is “Pain in Your Pocket”, on the Cabin Songs album I recently re released as well :) Hope you enjoy!
