People think the lockers are gonna solve a lot of the problems. But as a Jeep owner, I can tell you I don't use lockers that much. The way Jeep and RAM designed their susoension (solid axles+coil springs) just give you great suspension travel and great traction. Along with bigger tires (which are much ez to run), it is kinda ridiculous to see a Jeep just walks over an obstacle without even using the lockers. By the time I need to use my lockers, other vehicles probably need winchs. OK, the power wagon is much heavier and bigger then Jeep, but still, the suspensions are similar, and you can run 40s on a PW ez. Also, as a guy just broke a front axle shaft, I can tell you it is even more challenging for a IFS truck to run locker at front. You can destroy those CV shafts ez. If you really care about slow off-road, go with solid axles with coil springs (or coilover if you have the money) all day long.

In fact, I suspect that the RAM did NOT have its front locker engaged on some of those climbs. It would have been totally unnecessary and the drivetrain would have bound up on the climb that involved hard packed dirt under the front wheels, where the driver turned left and right on the hard pack.

Fair and objective. You were able to mitigate the the Tundras lack of lockers by finesse. Tundras need a rear locker. The Dodge had the advantage due to dual lockers. The Power Wagon did better because he kept moving he didn't come to a stop when it came to a big rock or something he kept the momentum going and the tundra came to a stop instead of keeping the momentum going and try to take off at The Rock which is why it only spun and had to back up and get momentum again other than that the tundra did just as good

Agree, however most of the reason why tundra was stopped was because losing traction and atrac kicked in, only if I had lockers right ;)
@hzk12

As a tundra owner, lockers help but Toyota's atrac will get you out of 95 percent of situations. Engage 4low and modulate throttle between 1 to 3 rpm. Atrac only works between this range. Driver in the video keeps stopping and that prevents the atrac from kicking in. So keep the pedal gently pressed, as the wheels slip the computer figures out and brakes the slipping wheel and off you go..

Not only that, I don't think the front was locked on the climb where the front wheels were on hard pack when the rear wheels slipped a very little bit. If the fronts were locked, I think (but could be wrong) some binding/slippage in the front would have been noticeable when the driver turned the wheels from passenger to driver. Regardless, no front locker was needed in that location...
