I've long used moderators to tune my airguns. Not tuning in the Regulator-Valve-Hammer sense, but harmonically tuning the barrel.
I've always found that an air rifle favors one moderator over another. The barrel reacts to a change in weight, stiffness, center of gravity and length.
Olympic shooters know this. If you look to the muzzle end of an Olympic air rifle you'll see a "bloop tube" whoch is basically and adjustable sleeve that the shooter uses to alter the length and center of gravity of the barrel system, and you may also see barrel weights. It all matters, whether you want to believe it or not.
Even small changes matter. The rotational harmonic tuning weight made by FX and others adjusts the center of gravity in very minute increments, using a relatively heavy weight. It's a very fine adjustment. Tuning with moderators, with their fixed weight and length hits two dimensions, but in bigger chunks. In order to tune with different moderators you have to accumulate them...and that's a full stop for some airgunners.
The Ryu and Yokozuna are modular. They have three sections of baffles, and the Yoko has an expansion chamber. These are made for AIRGUN USE ONLY, and they attach to your 1/2x20 UNF thread muzzle by way of a keyed quick disconnect so they go on the same way every time.
The RAW (Rapid Air Worx) Micro Hunter in .177 caliber will be featured in it's own video coming soon. So far it's been an excellent performer and is a joy to shoot.
This video was filmed on a private range with all downrange safety precautions taken. Only pre-charged pneumatic, pellet firing rifles were used in filming.
