Hey Matt, Thanks for the compliment man, its nice to get positive feedback. But as far as build plans or schematics I have none.I wish I had some when I started the project that is for sure. I own a CNC plasma table so I designed and cut all of my flanges and block off plates. The header was not to terribly hard to make, I used iron pre-formed elbows to create the necessary tubes. There is no support from engine to header so I wanted it really thick it also has a 3/8 flange.If you have any other question please ask, I always love help people with sweet projects. Thanks Jarrett

I would advise against doing a draw threw carb set up man, they can be dangerous. If something were to happen you have compressed air/fuel mixture in your charge air cooler... Blow threw is a much safer set up and not hard to do... I built my own header from very thick cast steel elbows and pipe. It only cost me about 100 bucks or so. I hope this helps you, if you have any more questions just let me know.

I have a 22r, early 80s carbed engine in my sand rail. Im pretty much done with the turbo setup. Its a td04-14t volvo turbo mounted to the stock manifold with a section of piping and v bands. Carb is a holley 2 barrel. Its a completely stock bottom end with the stock rings filed open for more ring gap. I had it running but tore it down because it was lethargic above 4500rpms, likely valve float. So now the heads are getting light bowl porting, hand valve lapping, then an improved cam and valvespring setup. Cost wise, ive got 250$ into a used 2 barrel holley carb, $45 into the td04 turbo, $160 in charge and exhaust piping, 100$ in fittings for the oil and coolant stuff, then id figure 200 dollars in misc metal for bracket material, bolts, gasket blank material, and other misc. So figure 6-700 in hardware just to make it run. Then ive got a sweet timing retarder for pulling timing with boost, electric fuel pump and regulator setup, and a few other odds and ends that add up a bit more. If you can do the labor yourself, own or have access to a welder, and have even a working mans budget, you should be able to make it happen.

Is 300-400whp a realistic power goal with a blow through set up like this? I am debating on either doing this or just swapping a 1jz into the truck. which the 1jz is going to add crazy weight but if I can make the power with a 22r I'd rather just do that. Any thoughts on how to achieve this? I'm building it for a weekend warrior/autocross truck. It's a second gen hilux that I have set up to handle pretty well just needs some power now.

Hey man, are you using an electric pump for the oil in and return on the turbo? If so, what did you use?
@jarrettsibley5187
7 жыл бұрын
No, That isn't actually a pump. It is an oil filter that filters the oil before it goes into the turbo. 22r's are very dirty engines and I had lost two turbo's in a pretty quick time so I put that filter on there and haven't had an issue since and that was 15k ago.
@ThatGeniusDude
7 жыл бұрын
Jarrett Sibley Oh nice. I'm about to start installing my turbo kit, but I wanted to keep the oil separate from the engine oil. Could I use an electric oil pump? I have one on my cart that seems it would have enough power.
@jarrettsibley5187
7 жыл бұрын
That is cool man, that is not entirely impossible but it is going to be expensive to do. You are going to need a pump, lines, fittings and a tank to hold the oil. I know they use oil pumps for butt mount turbos systems to return the oil to the engine but I have never heard of someone using one in the way. Just make sure it has enough pressure but not to much other wise you will push oil past the oil seal into the exhaust. If you are successful with it I would love to see it.

That is Awesome, these little trucks are getting harder and harder to find. I replaced the pistons and studed the head to keep it from lifting under boost.
