I used to be afraid when an aircraft encountered turbulence Back in the days when you were able to, l got a visit to the flight deck of our holiday jet while we descended to the airport. After watching the pilots fly the plane and seeing it from up front, l was never afraid of turbulence again. I think it’s often the unknown that people are afraid of.

That's really encouraging. Perhaps I should suggest this to my friends. BTW, did you mean to use the "l" instead of the "i" for your convenience? I did notice the "I" in the last sentence. Thank you very much. I mention this, because I use text-to-speech software, as I'm totally blind, and it knows the difference. Gotta love technology now; don't you?

@@heatherstub Hi there as far as l know, l only used l and not i Unfortunately you can't get aircraft flight deck visits any more so you won't be able to do what l did. But you might suggest to your friend that they take a flight in a smaller aircraft which might help to make them feel better about flying.

(LOVE those sheep-skin seat covers, they make flying so much more comfortable.) I don't mind turbulence if it isn't too bad, but one time, I hit a down-draft that made me hit my head on top of the cockpit and I was buckled pretty good! (They didn't have shoulder harnesses in cars or aircraft way back then.) It did scare me, but I maintained control of the aircraft and just hoped it would never happen again! Most pilots will try to steer clear of storms, but you can't always see turbulent areas!

To say that pilots just sit there and let the automation do the flying is just untrue. Pilots use their brain to fly the airplane, not the computer. They interpret the weather scenarios, calculate the fuel burn, man the radios and, ultimately, make command decisions.

Didn't look like much turbulence to me and the weather was fine for flying. You always get a few minor bumps when you fly into clouds. In the beginning, they were flying near the cloud tops and you frequently experience some "light chop" in that situation.

They are flying IFR (Instrument Flight Rules); separation between them and other aircraft is maintained by a controller at a control tower; If they go up or down just to avoid a cloud, they might end up colliding with other aircraft; If they need to change altitude they would ask the controller, and the controller may approve or disapprove such change in altitude.

If you notice at 9:55 the captain says "que fue esa luz?" This means, What was that light? I cant tell what the co-pilot says but the pilot asks him twice what is that light? Then a few seconds later the warning comes on again, and he says "Porque sera?" Which means "Why is that?" I am just curious as to what could be the cause of this.

Actually he has all his senses tuned in, he is monitoring the engines to check for any abnormalities, he is also monitoring the speeds on both his displays and the captains displays to make sure that they match and all systems are operating normally. He also monitors the speed to make the callouts (v1,vr,v2). In this video he appears to be doing that so there is nothing to worry about. He is also doing ATC communications which alleviates the pilot flying.

It's not until you see the view from up front that you realise how ridiculously fast those things are caning it down a (comparatively) tiny little strip of Asphalt; as a very frequent flyer for 25 years I still find the fact that those things actually get off the ground pretty staggering; PHYSICS!

First of all, we know that this airplane can fly as high as "huge jets" as you say. What I can tell you is that some times traffic and weather plays a roll in the altitude you fly; to give you an example, if you are going from point "A" to point "B" and the winds up high are what we call "head winds"; but the winds at lower levels are "tail winds"; we might prefer to fly lower levels -we would get faster to point "B" spending much less fuel, much less money.
