A 36 minute Riyria Explained video! Am I in Alysin?

I don't know why the Algorithm chose to send me this video, I've never read or even heard of this series, or the author. I only watched the intro, by that point I was in. I just purchased Theft of Swords. And added this to my watch list... I'll be back.

I'm finishing up Rise of Empire. Although, based on what I've read so far, and a little bit of this video that I watched, it still seems like they could be two separate fantasy worlds.

I am so happy for this channel and the work you do. I love your videos and seen them all, this video right here is one of the most important ones to date. The universe MJS created deserves so much more attention by the general public, this universe, these books, everything together is an absolute masterpiece. I still hope MJS will one day get the recognition he should have right up there with people like GRRM who created Game of Thrones. I loved the book Esrahaddon but I hated the end because of how it ended. How can we not have even a small conversation between these two? How can MJS end the book simply with "Hello brother"?! I was furious, I was stressed out and could not believe it ended just like that. Now I desparately hope we will get more books, either one that explains what happens to Turin and Trilos between Esrahaddon and Riyria or a book series (that has been already hinted at, no?) that takes place after the Riyria Revelations about the final war between chaos and light.

Wow, thank you! I am really happy people like the videos, and I think the reason I am still making them is because Riyria fans, like you, have been so nice and supportive the whole time. So seriously, thank you! On a side note, while I was making this video I went back to my Gods of Elan video, which was my first ever video, to check a fact, and realized how rough those first video were. 😂 I felt the same way at the end of Esrahaddon. I think Sullivan did hint on one of his zoom Q&As that he may have written a short story that will be released sometime soon, which sheds more light on the meeting. So I am hoping that ends up being true. Otherwise it could be years for the new series, if that even ends up happening.

I already had a good understanding of much of this information in theory, but what you provided was incredibly insightful. I appreciate that you clarified some points I had missed. It was definitely worth the 36 minutes of my time.

Like all brothers, always fighting when still young but they become dependable to each other as time pass by. I know Turin and Trilos made amends and are working together to keep Chaos at bay. Very nice video! Im really happy to be a fan of Riyria before this series become BIG!

Great Job editing all of this! You should applaud yourselves because this really did come out fantastic. I'll never forgive MJS for Farilane's demise. It is the one part of the lore I'm just not buying. Obv the first born of any set of twins is Heir. About the horn, MJS says "When it was made, there was a provision for only one heir and one challenger. But a "twin" is literally a single entity that split into two - so given that - who plays the part of the "heir"? It doesn't know. As such it's easy for the "contract" to break which defeats the whole purpose of the horn." How is this horn capable of determining so much but apparently not the 1st born. Only genetically identical twins are fertilized by one sperm that splits a single egg. Are Farilane and her brother identical twins? Tbh I'm not sure but don't remember them being identical twins. Every other kind of twin situationship is multiple sperm and multiple eggs. You'd think the first born would be obvious but it does of course wreck an amazing story and truly compelling work by MJS. But seriously fantastic work on this! Also really likes the Esrahaddon trailer. Would love to see Hekebah, Mashi and Niblick on screen.

19:40 was Turin powerful? Didn't he split his power between his artifacts by that time? Did he have much power left if any(assuming the stick he named Narsirabad isn't the real thing).

That's a good question. If I had to guess I would think he would have been able to get into the Agave, but we don't really know what he is capable of. He is immortal and has foresight, but he doesn't generally show more than that in any book. I don't know if I believe the split power thing Trilos says, but I kind of want it to be true in a cool, video game way.
@azaleacolburn

@@azaleacolburn I'm definitely not sure about it, since Trilos is the only one that has mentioned it, and even he wasn't sure about it.

I think during their meeting, they began to start their reconciliation. Like with Muriel though, Trilos needs time and more effort from Turin to truly forgive. I think he's no longer overtly hostile to Turin, but he isn't helping him either. Are there any references to Yolric in Riyria other than a fleeting mention of Arcadius somehow finding his tomb? Also, haha not to go on and on, but Mawndule is truly such a fascinating character and deserves a character study. Has there been any word from MJS on this apparent discrepancy: in Legends, Mawyndule kills Lothian with the Art, but in Revelations, before the duel, Mawyndule says his fatger was killed by stabbing. Do you think this is him simply misremembering his own past. His own memories of Makareta were fading by Farilane, and he may have twisted himself so far with his own ideas of revenge being all- consuming. I wonder what's next for him now that his immortal soul is trapped to wander Elan
@riyriaexplained

I think they began reconciliation as well. I would be interested if Trilos ever went to Muriel. No, we see the flashbacks of "Yolric" in Revelations, but other than that the only reference is what you mentioned with Arcadius having gone to the "tomb of Yolric". I don't think Sullivan has addressed that specificallly. He has said that a fhrey's memory isn't better than a human's, so he could have misrememebered that after thousands of years. My guess is that he is just lying though.

Wait do you mean Turin fathered Tura (sp?) or that he acted as a father for her?
@riyriaexplained

That's a good question! I think the general idea is that he acted as a father. But there are some theories that he is actually her father. The most interesting question in that scenario would be, who is her mother?
