That's quite an interesting chassis setup. My 1987 Thomas S1700 was originally a 6.9 IDI and was later swapped to the 7.3IDI (both IH engines, not Ford, BTW) before I bought it and swapped in a DTA360. I'm VERY familiar with the S1700/S1800 bus chassis (I even have the parts book for these), and I've never seen that Morse shifter (or any auto shifter) on a tower as an option before--only when it was converted from a manual. Was this bus originally a manual, or is this all original? I have also never seen the park brake lever mounted in that spot before--I am assuming this was a special request of the school district that purchased it.
