Learn how to make Cha Ca La Vong, a Hanoi signature dish! In this recipe, I'll show you how to make a variation of the recipe that only uses ingredients that are easy to find in the US (and likely other countries outside of Vietnam as well).
Ingredients:
❖ Cha ca:
2 lbs. Tilapia fillets
3 tbsp finely ground galangal root
1 tsp shrimp sauce
1 tsp salt
½ cup buttermilk
2 tbsp cornstarch
2 tsp ground turmeric
❖ Mam Tom sauce:
1 tbsp shrimp sauce
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp water
juice of ½ lime
2 tbsp oil
1 tbsp minced garlic
hot chili, minced
❖ Accompaniments:
½ cup roasted salted peanuts
Dill
Green onions
Rice noodles
