You said the VOID lid will fit both BlendTec and VitaMix. I'm confused. The website shows the one for BlendTec (just the lid) for $199 and another item called VitaMix Complete Retrofit Kit for about $100 more. I don't need a new carafe but just want the lid. I have a VitaMix 5300 and the opening is round, Not square. Which item do I need to get? Thank you for this valuable info!

I have one and it is great. One tip- when making smoothies using powdered proteins, herbs, etc., put those additions into the MIDDLE of the shake before blending. This is because the vacuum pump in the lid would otherwise naturally suction them through the lid. By alternating layers of ingredients and keeping the powders off the top level, you will enjoy VOID vacuum blending. Thanks, John for sharing this tip in future videos.

@healthfullivingify
Жыл бұрын
@@caginbob Hi, Banger805. I got my VOID about a year ago and used it for a few months really liking it. As I said, if you add all your fruits and veggies, nuts and seeds FIRSTLY, and the add protein POWDERS and HERBS on TOP, the powerful vacuum will suck those right up into the lid of course. Then a musty smell would occur so I would just run the lid under the sink tap while ON and let it clean out the lid. That eventually messed up the electronics in the VOID lid. Conner at the factory was very nice about it and I need to send it to them to fix. New technique: put in water and powders AT THE BOTTOM 1st, then add produce on top and should not suction powders into the lid. This is likely going to happen on any other vacuum blender. As I said, liquid and powders 1st should let you always enjoy vacuum blending. As John Kohler says, it IS a gamechanger for freshness and taste vs. ordinary blending.I hope his TriBest DynaPro mfr of his favorite vacuum blender DEVELOPS A SOUND ENCLOSURE. Both VitaMix and Blendtec and a few others have.

I've purchased the VOID Vacuum blending retrofit kit for my Vitamix and will be trying it out for the first time today. (Yes, I charged the lid). Do I understand correctly the following steps after filling the blender: 1. Press the GO button and allow it to run til it hits 17 or 18 2. Turn off the vacuum (per someone in the comments who said to do this or it ruins the internal vacuum hardware) 3. Blend 4. Pull up the red tab to release the vacuum, remove lid and pour I'm wondering if I need to do any pre-programming, and if so, how? Also, what does the button to the left of the GO button do (looks like a fast forward symbol)? Thank you so much!

Hey John, I started using vacuum blending after watching your videos. I have been using one daily for over a year now. I really appreciate your videos and the information. I got to tell you, you want to turn the vacuum pump off while blending. It is going to suck moisture into the pumps on that system. It is a warranty hassle waiting to happen. Also as mentioned in other comments, if you put protein powder, cinnamon, maca powder, beet powder, ect.. and have that on when the blender starts, it is going to suck the powder into the lid, add some moisture and you are going to damage a very expensive vacuum pump. With the influence you have I would ask them to include in the program settings a way to set the pump up to not run during blending, should be something they could add to the firmware. Also that release valve is not in a very ergonomic place for releasing the vacuum while removing the lid. Eventually you are going to get water on the top of the lid and or in the vacuum ports when washing, there is no way to avoid it, that can only lead to problems, the pump really needs to be separate from the lid for cleaning purposes. I see the convenience of not having multiple components, but this is going to be a problem long term. To me it almost looks like planned obsolescence. Keep making the videos and bringing us new information and products! Thank you!

I bought one....ordered to canada and it has failed after 120 cycles last week.... returned it and will get it repaired now and i will try again. to me i do not see how the lid can possibly not suck in liquid into the pump due to it sucking throughout the blend cycle... and that generally liquids splash to the top and touch the vacuum holes. there should be some valve or protection from this. in a way the company is still working out some issues it would seem still.... although they mention that they will do a free upgrade on mine this time. i'm actually quite demoralized with vacuum blending after getting so screwed about by tribest with so many issues with their machines motor failures and blades loosing their seal many multiple times, and now issues with this one too. John why don't you just design your own that is just a hand pump with no parts to fail. done. :) regardless, thanks for your videos. you have certainly inspired myself and many others to get super into juicing....

Many vacuum blenders you can use a manual pump, such as the tribest dynapro and even the biochef carafe. I have used it with my favorite "pink pump" to pull the initial vacuum. I found it important to NOT overfill your blender carafe when blending with the void-systems lid. As it will suck liquid thru, which the lid has been designed for, and should not be damaged. That being said, avoiding sucking foods thru the lid would be best.

Dont like foam or air in your smoothie? Turn it on and off a few times, from medium speed down to low speed, everytime you turn it off, air bubbles come to the surface. Repeat tell you get to the lowest speed and no more air bubbles come out. Takes some fine tuning, but you'll get there. You'll also get the vibrant colours without all the foam and air, just like a vacuum blender. I'm still not convinced blending under vacuum makes any difference, but getting air out of your smoothie sure does! Save a few bucks and do it yourself using the method suggested and the machine you have. Hey John, I would be curious to see you do a side by side comparison using this method of air removal I mentioned vs a vacuum blender.
@discountjuicers
Жыл бұрын
Hey Scott, that is an excellent tip for sure, and will surely minimize bubbles/foam when blending in a traditional blender then just turning on the blender and letting it run. That being said, a vacuum blender sucks out the excess oxygen from the blender (both headspace and some from the liquid) before blending so that the LEAST amount of air is blended into your mixtures. It is a game changer, and until you have tried it and experienced vacuum blending, you wont really "get it". Every customer I have gotten to buy a vacuum blender has loved it, except one, that complained her smoothies taste too strong now.

John, Another great video that helps us choose the best system for each individual. I just had a thought on what might be a good comparison to minimise processing time and total cost of equipment. At first the vacuum juicing seemed too much of a bother and time for the extra nutritional value. However, with a vacuum blender, one could both make smoothies and juices and avoid having to get a juicer at all. Another valid comparison would be the total processing time (including cleaning of equipment), to make a juice on the vacuum blender system vs a standard juicer. It may be that although the juicing on a blender system seems too time consuming, it may actually take less time given the usually long time it can take to properly clean a juicer.
@discountjuicers
Жыл бұрын
Hi Leo, I toy with the same thoughts myself. There are pros and cons to using a stand-alone juicer or a vacuum blender. Some other considerations: some juice recipes can't be made when vacuum juicing (root heavy recipes). I think for single glass juices, the vacuum juicing technique could be a "wash" in the time it takes, but when bulk juicing, a juicer such as the Nama J2 would clearly be much more quick. In my video Best Juicers of 2022 I compare vacuum juicing to the best juicers out there kzitem.info/news/bejne/mH-Cq4KZh6KHgqw and I show the times. The times may vary depending on what you are processing. Ie: fruits like I did here, will take less time than say celery that will need to be precut.

I personally recommend the highest number each time you blend. The higher the number the more that is expelled from the carafe, which means less dissolved oxygen and bloating as well as more nutrition. Depending on where you live in the world the pump may max out at 17 to 20, and wont go any higher. Once you determine the highest number the unit can comfortably get too, then I recommend blending each time at that number.

There are several vacuum blenders that include sound enclosures, including the Kuvings that I currently sell, and the Kuvings commercial coming out NEXT year (est price $2000). Also some other Chinese Imports that may not have good customer support/warranty service should they break. The Void-systems lid can be used the with Commercial Blendtec blender that has a sound enclosure to make it more quiet.

@discountjuicers

The biochef pump includes a plug-in AC adapter that is normally used. You can also put in Alkaline AA batteries to run the pump, that you will need to REPLACE when they are drained. The Void-Systems Lid has high-cost Lithium batteries (as found in your cell phone) so the lid can run on average 30 days until needing to be recharged wirelessly based on user feedback.

@@algolfan1 I understand your point, by my point is that my parents have a blendtec blender at their house. All I need to do is bring the Void-Systems lid with me to their house, and I can vacuum blend. With the biochef kit, I need to bring the biochef carafe, biochef pump, and ac adapter (or have batteries in the pump). So that takes up considerably more space in my luggage when visiting my parents AND taking a blender carafe thru carry-on TSA is not allowed. So I still stand with my statement, as the void-systems lid easily goes thru TSA carry-on. I have done it many times!

Thank you so much John! You are truly amazing!! Thank you once again!!

Press go and see how high the number can get. Near the sea level I was getting more like 18, but when im home its like 17 usually. You can turn off the pump during blending, which will make cleaning easier and prevent liquid from going into the pumps. Otherwise that is it! You can pre-program the A B C options for preset vacuum levels, check the instruction manual.

Wildside jar was not designed for vacuum. Will the vacuum pull bearing grease into the jar? Will the constantly running vacuum pump pull liquid into the pump while blending? Do you sell replacement lids for the Blitz Wolf?
@discountjuicers
Жыл бұрын
From what I am aware, it really depends on when your wildside jar was made. I do know at some point, blendtec upgraded the seals so they can handle higher vacuum pressure. Yes, the pump will pull liquid thru if you fill the container too much. It is designed to NOT be harmed should it accidently pump liquid, but over-filling of the carafe should be avoided. You can also stop the pump from continuing to run once it reaches pressure if you desire, by pressing a button on the lid. I do not sell replacement parts. Please contact the manufacturer.

Vacuum blender is better than cold press by Nama J2?
@discountjuicers
Жыл бұрын
Depends how you define "better". Vacuum Juicing IS better than the Nama J2 in terms of nutrition, and yield for sure, but requires much more labor. (hand squeezing) where as the Nama J2 is easier, load up the juicer and walk away. I personally own both, and use them both depending on the recipe and how much work I feel like doing. The Nama J2 can also produce juice MUCH faster than vacuum blending.

David, the void systems base is made in China. While it is quite powerful and my testing proves it. I am concerned about the long-term durability of the machine (due to the shorter warranty). I have living foods blender that is completely useless as a vaccum blender because of the faulty jar adapter that costs probably a few dollars. I only had the blender for a year when it started loosing vacuum. When I contacted their warranty support, they asked me to send pictures, when I did they never replied again, no matter how many times I emailed them. I am glad we now have an alternative, looks like I can convert my blendtec into a vaccuum blender - I really don't like foamy smoothies

The results of this demo seem impressive however, the lid seems quite snug and tight but, The pump starts and stops constantly to maintain pressure. The Blendtec container seals around the blades seem to fail frequently (my 2 have and there's research into a class action suit around the issue). Given this, have you found that the vacuum system sucks seal oil/lubricant up through seal where it would normally leak out water?
@discountjuicers
8 ай бұрын
Pulling a vacuum on any blender carafe can cause the seals in the carafe to fail prematurely, since most blender carafe seals are not designed to have a vacuum pulled on it. I would like to think that dedicated vacuum blenders are designed with this as a consideration. That being said, I visited blendtec, and learned more about the seals they use in their carafes, and I can say their seals are better than other seals out there to be more durable during vacuum blending than traditional seals on Vitamix or other brands. I also recommend NEVER to dishwash your blender carafe, that is the FASTEST way to blow out your seals, getting water in from the UNDERSIDE where the blender carafe seal is not designed to be waterproof.
@SeekingBeautifulDesign

@@discountjuicers Thanks. I'm working on repairing 2. Currently trying coconut oil. 1 seal is wobbly and leaky and oil doesn't help. Other blendtec container seal isn't wobbly but is leaky. Hot coconut oil into container then cooled and only blending cool things is working so far. I'm also hoping that the oil surrounding the seals may re-oleify them and further fix the issue.

similar question a as james petterson below. 'cept mine works fine. how does the dynapro stack up to these AFTERMARKETS? i recall somewhere hearing you or tom dickson mention 20 inches of mercury or something as some sort of benchmark? did i screw that up? how does that translate here for vacuum.
@discountjuicers
Жыл бұрын
Every Vacuum Blending solution has its own set of pros and cons. I have not compared the vitamix or void-blender carafe to the dynapro yet in terms of blending yet. That being said, this lid works on the blendtec blend that has a more dull blade, so the dynapro would blend better in terms of blending. The Void-Systems lid will pull a faster vacuum than the tribest vacuum pump, my estimate is 1/2 the time. So the question is does the dynapro blend better than the void systems carafe? I am not sure. I have not tested yet. My guess is the dynapro blends a little better, its made in S. Korea and the Void-Systems Jar is made in China, but the Void-Systems lid is made in the USA. This system for me pulls about 18 inches of mercury. Korean/Chinese Vacuum Blenders use kPa so you will need to convert inches of mercury to KPA. all good vac blenders pull 18+ approx

John: Just so I can plan for the future - you recommend vacuum blending for anything soft or with high water content (e.g. berries, citrus, melons, tomatoes, etc.), auger (slow juicing) for hard or leafy vegetables (e.g. carrots, celery, kale, oat grass, etc.) and centrifugal (high speed juicing) for nothing unless that is the only machine you have. Do I have this correctly?

Fred, each method of "juicing" or processing has its own set of pros and cons. In general, vacuum blending for high water content ingredients OR high water ingredients WITH leafy greens or STEM veggies or lesser amounts of root veggies, as roots contain the least amount of water content as related to fiber. Slow juicing is good for roots and greens as well as fruits. I generally dont recommend centrifugal unless you have nothing else.
