On this day in 1968 {August 3rd} the Vogues performed "Turn Around, Look At Me" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand... Two months earlier on June15th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #7 and spent 15 weeks on the Top 100 chart... It was written by Jerry Capehart; who co-wrote Eddie Cochran's huge hit "Summertime Blues"... Was originally recorded by Glen Campbell in 1961; he reached #62 on Top 100 chart... R.I.P. Mr. Cochran and Mr. Clark...

Original version by Glen Campbell 61 said heart in my hands not hand. But the Vogues killed it with their harmony. I love Glen, he only had himself, hard to do harmony alone!

Can't understand why this wasn't a hit here in the UK. Beautiful recording.

That's because you don't have or didn't have commercial radio stations like Canada USA and here in Brisbane Australia where we had at least 10 in the Brisbane area at the time I remember that playing in 1961 and again by the vogues and New Zealand

This song reminds me of "Ebb Tide", by Bobby Hatfield. I know this song is about the love of Jesus Christ, and to me that's what makes it so compelling. I have'nt done any research on the Vogues, but I know they put out the song "5 O'clock World". Great Song, it makes us think about our own "fragile" mortality. Kudos T1R9A6C3Y!!!
