I love this book! A new artistic terminology that I learned is "defining the clumps!" I also loved hearing your maternal bent in your voice when you said, "I did a video on it! " Meaning, "Don't come complaining about your picture if you haven't done your homework about hard and soft lines.... " LOL!!! Classic lines from a classy lady!

Well your "shameful " hair coloring looks good to me. I would like to learn to color realistic looking hair on a picture that iv drawn but in my coloring books all of which happen to be like the example you showed first I like the cartoon look. I feel like you could teach how to do the realistic look with out putting the other look down.

Thank you very much for this tutorial. I really like Hannah Karlzon’s books but not her hair, at least in her earlier books which is what I have. I still think your techniques can apply to them though. I just went and looked at the picture I just did and can see where I can add more shadows to define the “clumps” better. Thanks much! 😁

Great one! I would like to check out that coloring book. Did I tell you I ordered the Dragon's coloring book. And a set of the colored pencils , off Color It ! Lol. Couldn't take it anymore, seeing everyone coloring the babies from the book. So I had to have it! Lol. I was also up all night, stayed up until 5 this morning coloring the cloads in the Ink House! Taking my time, trying to get them looking somewhat like yours. Seems like I could put 20 layers on the page, and doing step by step blending the cloads, I'm like, damn! Lol they ever going to end. Lmao! 😂 😂. It's slowly coming together. I'll send you a picture when I think I've got it done! Lol.

It takes a while to get hair right because it involves doing a tapered stroke. Follow my class series because we just reviewed the stroke. Once you get the stroke down it makes hair look realistic.

I have a general question for anyone reading this. Thank you in advance for taking the time to respond if you choose to do so. Do you color directly in coloring books or do you make a copy of the page on the type of paper you prefer to color on????? The reason Im asking this is I find most coloring books have very low paper quality & the pencils I use to color ( various sets from Holbein, Polychromos, Prismacolor, Kalour, etc) do not produce the same results as they do with higer quality paper. Is this just a personal issue or does anyone have this problem too????
@ColorMyWorld
6 ай бұрын
Most of the time no. I like buying and printing out pages because I can change the level of black in the lines. I rather color with grey lines.

@ColorMyWorld Thank you so much for taking the time to answer this for me. I was beginning to think I was the only one who still colored in the books. Your tutorials are such a big help. They are easy to understand no matter what level of colorist you are. I made the mistake early on watching tutorials of artists who used pencils to draw and I found it difficult to understand & relate to. I did this because I was so frustrated with the lack of paper quality in so many coloring books that I figured I would just draw my own pictures & color them on the paper I preferred. The only problem was I had all these coloring books that I bought & didn't want to just abandon them. Thank you again & also for all the tutorials you have created. You truly inspired me to give coloring books another chance.

Prismacolor pencils can do hair but the best hair comes out with oil pencils or a Verithin. Slightly harder wax than Prismacolor will give a sharper line. Prismacolors were meant for blending.

I know your comment is from 2 yrs ago, but wanted to just say I can totally relate. It helps to watch tutorials especially ones from "colorists". They are much easier to relate to then artists doing drawing/coloring tutorials. No disrespect intended to anyone with that statement. I personally found artist's tutorials more complicated & harder to relate the info to use in adult coloring books is all. Just find a YT coloring channel that works for you there's a ton out there. This channel with Lori is so helpful. Hang in there or I hope you have hung in there, it definitely gets easier as you progress.❤

Ok, I have tried and tried to watch these videos and keep saying to myself..."Who died and made her Queen of Adult Coloring?" There is more then one way to do things and different ways to get there. Why do constantly feel the need to put others down? There are different books that call for different styles and techniques and that is the joy of adult coloring.

You made me laugh out loud with the hooker hair! what type of brush is the one you used for blending? If you were doing a lighter hair color, would you have used the darkest of let say blonde hair, you would have used a dark brown or dark yellow instead of charcoal?
