Thats the quality content I'm here for! Salvaging old parts to make something new or repairing broken tech is just the best! The mousewheel breaking seems to be a common issue for Logitech mice, at least in my experience. For me it were two mice: one had a broken mouse wheel sensor and one had a broken wheel axis. (Of course i swapped the broken wheel with the fine one.) Right now I have multiple Logitech mice which get used almost daily so I'm expecting another broken mousewheel in the future. But I have to add I'm a heavy mousewheel user, I always use it to close tabs in browsers and other software instead of aiming for the x, also open links in new tabs.

I wonder why they fail so often 🤔 I should see why this one failed and then see if it's a common failure. It's unfortunate because they're pretty great mice for the most part. I got so used to using a trackball mouse that I can't go back lol

I have another broken mouse wheel to report :D The wheel axis broke inside the rotary encoder. Thinking about replacing the axis with a custom made metal part.

Good work! If you want to double your macro keys, you can wire extra g-shift button, or bind that function to exist key.

Loved this, have the same mouse laying around. Do you happen to have the dimensions for the casing/cover? I would love to replicate using alternate materials.

Oh my dear lord, 8 pounds 6 ounces sweet baby jesus. Why have I read your comment?!? Now I want to go around my house and replace every last wall light switch with some OG holy panda switches lubed/filmed/spring swapped....OR for the bedroom some nice GIANT mechanical switches (the ones that have a keycap about the size of your head or roughly 4-5 inches wide... and have those Linear switches so i don't wake the female when i wake up and roundhouse kick the huge switch on the wall....because obviously a little lube and a nice C3 Tangie or some Durock POM switches will be so smooth and quiet that she'll never know i just jumped up and roundhouse kicked that overhead light on. thanks for ruining the next two weeks of free time i would normally have, now I have a new project 😂 Edit: Shit, I might even have to just design custom PCBs the exact size of a wall switch cover then get some custom FR4, aluminum, maybe even a Brass plate for the wall switches for my office....because that deep thoccc is life. I was thinking Im going to need to automate these lights with a little Raspberry Pi or a nice microcontroller....but having everything so conveniently accessible to turn on and off all the lights using wifi or bluetooth would completely defeat the purpose of the tactility of these mechanical switches. Dear Lord, I'm in too deep. I'm gonna need to start a custom "GMK light switch" keycap Group Buy😂

Hey Soldeking, is there any other way of fixing the problem you get ( the limited full throw on x and y axis)when soldering smd pots other than using a bevel to make the circumference of the anolog stick bigger?

@@Solder_king I was referring to your original version. Is the kit you're talking about the 15 dollar one that comes on a pcb and does it guarantee having no limitation on x and y throw after tuning?

I read about this in a hack-a-day article that is written in a very gender nonconforming way. Really odd.
