When cutting or drilling tiles, you need to keep water dripping on them to dissipate the heat. That helps them not to crack and break during the cutting or drilling of the tile. Your veg garden looks great!

When I've done grouting I always use my fingers rather than an applicator & just put grout into the gaps rather than getting it all over the tiles. Less wasteful, far more accurate & takes less time & effort. Looking really good.

That could be good but at this point my hands were so dry because of the grout and wall adhesive that I was actually using gloves afterwards. Tough stuff!

This place is a historical gem and you two are saving it. Love the way you two work together and the craftmanship you and your helpers display, it makes the old look authentic and the new blend in with the old. Great job.

So happy to see y'all! Omar must be back from his tours. The counters, stove, sink, showers, tile.......all looks Marvelous!!! I wish so much to be there. Been missing y'all! Smiles, laughter and OH 💩! LOL 🤣🤣! Your garden looks great and you started late. Mine sucked! I don't know what to do next year. Maybe just my flowers and tomatoes! Had to fight the birds with them. But my Rosemary, i don't cook with it. I boil it in an old sauce pan on the stove and then buy it on low. The smell goes all over the house! Butcher block counters look great. Save the pieces you cut out and make a design around the out side and give them away as cutting boards for Christmas. Or make you some tables to have your coffee/tea in the mornings on the beautiful stone porch. Just suggestions! Been missing yall! Happy you got the video sponsored! I love the shower! Probably you already know how to use the PPTE tape, but in case you don´t know the following. you can use it as a tape of one cm width and tape it clockwise nine times around the screw end or you can roll it as a thread and then turn it in the lower screw part for as well nine times. It should be fine by then. Of course you can use horsehair or hennep. That is a bit old fashioned but it works better than ppte. Also turn it nine times clock wise around the screw end.

Its definitely not horse hair its called hemp secondley you should scratch your threads with a hacksaw blade to help the hemp stick to the threads also dont over tighten the nuts hand tight and then a halfturn with your shifter but teflon should do the trick as well there is also a product on the market called LOK SEAL its a good product for amateur's hope this advice help old school plumber with 45 years experience in the trade goodluck

I always use Fernox LS-X sealer, never had a leak and it stays flexible. I've just seen a video showing you should twist the PTFE tape in to a rope and wind that in the threads then cover it over with the full width as normally do.

Yeah! We heard of that too. I think they also sell rolled PTFE tape but the hemp divers (not horse hair 😂) worked really well.

I can see you are installing shiny white tiles. I can tell you that in my home, my bath/shower has the shiny white tiles and they are a pain to keep shiny due to the acid, or other things in the water that stain them. It means that every time I shower, I have to use a squiggy to remove the water before it dries and stains the tiles. In my previous home, I had white non-shiny tiles and I never had to remove the water. With the shiny tiles, it has become a cleaning burden every time I shower. Perhaps you won't have this problem if your lighting is not reflecting off the tiles.
@TheIndigoEscape
Жыл бұрын
Thanks, we will definitely be able to report once they are being used! Here we have soft water, so maybe it's a little acidic compared to what we are used to.

Water where I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia is very hard. Sometimes I can't get the white substance off my stainless steel sink, and must clean all chrome after use and wipe eating utensils immediately after washing. I lived about 10 miles away before my current location and did not have this problem.@@TheIndigoEscape

@@TheIndigoEscape i think that people in Portugal do not “care” so much about it 😂 Iam also Portuguese, few years a go, nobody waterproofed their bathrooms, wich it is no big deal if the Shower Walls that are exposed to water are NOT external Walls, they are not exposed to the outside temperature and if you have a Sand, cement and lime coat. On Drywall, you have to waterproof it. Walls will get Damaged in a few years… Iam a professional home builder and Tile layer, I can say that with experience…I wonder why people on such Homedepots or stores are not correctly informing the customers…we need more qualified people, for sure! But now it is too late, you could impossibly save the walls by pulling out the tiles, the drywall would also be completely damaged by removing those. If I would be in Portugal I would help you, but currently iam living in Germany… At least you should seal all the corners with silicone, so that water can’t pass trough it and hope you don’t have to rebuild everything in a Few years. Moisture will start to appear in between tiles joints, specially with white grout… The last thing you could try, buy a kind of Resin primer and apply it on all Tile joints with a small brush, ( at least two coats ) that would keep the moisture outside! I hope I could help you
@TheIndigoEscape
Жыл бұрын
@@FB2T01 It was our local building shop! I was very paranoid about the moisture coming through but as it was adviced that it wasn't necessary, we followed through. The resin idea is really good actually so I will talk to Omar about it. Thank you! I really appreciate it. I think also we will be opening that window while we shower and afterwards so moisture leaves very quickly. Thank you so much for offering help! Even though you are in Germany, free advice from experts like you is priceless for us!
