I think the reason why Anna wears a jacket is because the filmmakers took inspiration from traditional Norwegian dress (you can see it quite clearly in the embroidery). The jacket is similar to the style of jacket people will wear with their bunad (the Norwegian national costume). Anna usually wears a costume that is very similar to the bunad, so it would make a lot of sense for that to be incorporated in the harvest dress too
@ragnkja
3 жыл бұрын
What styles of bunad are you referring to? The styles I’m familiar with have a waistcoat-like bodice worn over a long-sleeves linen shirtwaist. Another extremely distinctive element of the bunad are the silver brooches holding the neck opening of the shirtwaist closed.
@Sundgoti
3 жыл бұрын
@@ragnkja there are several regions that have jackets, but they’re usually not required to complete the ensemble (usually you’ll just see them with the shirtwaist and bodice), However, the bunad from Øst-Telemark is more regularly featured with a short jacket. Jackets, and perhaps more commonly shawls, were worn for additional warmth, which isn’t always necessary in modern day use of the bunad. The film has obviously deviated from the look and color scheme of a traditional bunad, so Anna’s outfit doesn’t really resemble any style of bunad (the closest for the harvest dress is maybe a bride’s bunad?)

Oh and Anna has a tendency to run around town in her ball gowns. She did so in her coronation ball dress in frozen 1 too. I can totally see her just tossing a jacket over it just because she didn’t want to change later.

This dress is absolutely gorgeous!!! It looks incredible as a Disney x Worth mashup dress and I am absolutely living for this!!!! I have a suggestion to include the orange petticoats she wore underneath her skirt. Based on the concept arts of Anna, the petticoat looks like either an orange organza or petticoat mesh or a few layers of soft orange tulle and I think to include the orange petticoat into your 1890s version and it could be a built in or separate petticoat that could possibly add a bit of volume to the hem to help keep it clean and it could possibly act as some sort of dust ruffle in case it will drag on the floor. I think it would add an additional autumnal feel to Anna’s dress but the design youre making is absolutely stunning and I applaud you for your amazing work on this dress. Great job Sewstine!!! Keep up the incredible work!!!
@Sewstine
3 жыл бұрын
Yes!! I actually bought some gorgeous orange poplin. The problem is that the silk is thin and gave everything an orangey feel. I love her petticoat but it would require two extra layers of petticoats so that was a no go for me. 😂😭
@alaskacosplay
3 жыл бұрын
I could be a dust ruffle that would peek out at the back or something like maybe a skirt slip (an underskirt to smooth out any possible unevenness from showing on the outside) since it was visible on the original dress or it could be an underskirt with a slight gather at the back kinda like your 1890s puffed sleeve outfit’s underskirt but its a form of modesty and I think it was possible to have an underskirt during the autumn and winter months since it may be chilly. Im not sure, Im just being supportive and giving some suggestions. Great job again!! I wish you best of luck.

You make digitizing look so easy, and not a pain in the butt at all! UH! The misplaced hook and eyes! Just two days ago, I finished my heavy black corduroy skirt, and figured--- Well, for once, I'm just going to sew the hook and eyes on right away, and be the hell dome with it! And I did -- and then I had to remove them because I put them on wrong, and then I looked at where they needed to be in comparison to how the skirt looked laid flat, immediately felt fat and ugly and moved on the the other skirt I was working on. Took off and put on that waistband twice, decided that I'm too fat to fit into anything weather it fits on my dress dummy or not, and went to fold some clothes. I have watched this video several times, and I just love it! I can't wait for the jacket! This skirt is absolute heaven, and the masterfulness of the bodice -- WOW! Thank you to Abby , too! You both took all the terror out of making the Worth gown I have planned. How these things are constructed is SUCH A DAMN SECRET, and they need not be!!! Draping over a fitted base!!!! AND front closing! Not what I would have gone with! BRAVO, Sewstine! Bravo!

The 1840s (when the movie is loosely set, if we assume the map recovered from the shipwreck was a brand new map the year the ship was wrecked that places Frozen 2 in 1846) also had the tradition of high necks for day and low ones for evening, so I'm really not sure about Anna's neckline. I guess if the harvest celebration during the song was considered a "ball" that could explain it, with the long sleeves and the jacket added for warmth because the festivities were held outside. And we know from the first movie that Anna likes to put on her ballgowns first thing in the morning, so that fits.
