The backdrop for a catch and cook doesn't get much better than in the picturesque Kaikoura. With a perfect weather forecast, we launch the boat to target blue cod and gurnard on soft baits around the Kaikoura Peninsula. Despite a slow start to the fishing, we were spoiled with an incredible display of marine life including dusky dolphins, albatross and seals.
After catching a decent sea perch, we relocate to the beach to cook up the tastiest nachos ever on our Cobb Grill. A paprika and lime marinade transforms an often overlooked species into a delicious lunch, accompanied by a selection of fresh vegetables.
