Although I'm a beginner at at painting in watercolors but I also enjoyed painting with acrylics and oils however oils seem to take a long time to dry but they are so beautiful but I really love water color! You're painting and your tutorials God uses to lift my spirit and give me incentive to keep on keepin on thank you for all the many paintings tutorials and just your general demeanor as we are painting it is very relaxing and you are very informative and we learn a lot thanks so much God bless you

Diane, this one is simply lovely, so soft and delicate. I always think how pretty your random florals would look as wallpaper. I can picture this one in a bedroom or sitting room. Love the paper with the linear surface too. It adds another degree of texture. As an artist myself, I fully understand how difficult it is to not succumb to sadness. I think we are simply more sensitive to the vibes around us from people, nature, the news, our own perceptions too. Artists in general are highly sensitive, or we wouldn't be artists.

To tell you the truth, I'm here for the painting. The commentary tends to turn me away i f it's negative. My life is shitty enough, I view youtube for positive and pretty things. But there is also the benefits of being honest about the struggles. And trying to win the love of the youtube algorithm on top of it all just increases the struggle. On my main account, I found that publishing less often greatly increases the quality which increases the view and viewers interaction. The nice thing is that my ad income adverages about the same if I publish once a week or once every 3 months. But my nich is different and art content might not respond the same.
@DianeAntoneStudio

Yes, I understand your point of view. I suppose the good thing is that if you don’t want to listen to the commentary, you can just put the volume down and some music on, and watch the painting process. I make a point of not saying very much about my process really, as I think it’s better to learn by doing, and second best is watching. The words are not that important. Thanks for watching though, and I’m curious as to what your channel is. Best wishes, Diane

But then on the other hand, I know it’s part of being true to who I am. And if I am going to paint, I have to paint from the heart. I paint what flows through me. Sometimes I have to wait a few days before something arrives Often that means I have a day when I feel somewhat empty. I don’t know if this makes any sense, I’m just working it out as I go along! Thanks anyway, though for your wonderful support and I’m so glad you enjoyed the owl - I know he was well received, I just took a look at his little face and I thought you should’ve been a number one!

I keep on wanting to comment, but then I see so many comments that say exactly what I want to say, so I figure it doesn’t really add to the conversation. But today, it really hit me when you expressed disappointment that the owl painting didn’t do as well as you had expected. I looked back at the owl painting video, and although I remember seeing and liking it, there are days when I just want to paint and not have to draw before. Not to say that I don’t do paintings like that, but I prefer to paint and then pen in the lines. Depends on the day. I, like many, started watercolor briefly many years ago, and loved the end result (which *had* to look like the ‘real’ thing), but it was always such a stressful process. I retired in December, and in June, happen to come across some watercolor videos, and got hooked. My favorite are yours, so I joined at your KZitem initial level. I love listening to you (I especially like when you just talk about anything, even if it’s not painting.) I love following your paintings. I love the diversity of subjects. And yours are the only videos where I am *always* content with the process *AND* the end result. Your videos take me away from the crap that's going on in the world today, and make me feel like I am actually fairly good at watercolor painting. So please don’t infer that not enough ‘likes’ or views has any correlation to the quality or beauty of your work. So many factors come into why people choose one video over another. YOU ARE AMAZING! And although I have a gazillion of your videos from the past to still watch/do, I look forward to you continuing your passion of painting, and allowing your subscribers to follow you for many years to come. *Thank you, thank you and thank you!*

Hi Sue, and thanks so much for your lovely comment! I’m so glad you did comment and share your story. I know what you mean about not wanting to add unless you have something particular to say. I’m like that too and I rarely comment on channels that I watch, although I know I should! So I really appreciate that you took the time to make your thoughtful comment. I’m so glad that you find our videos helpful and enjoyable and that they are in some way a relief from some of the other things that are out there. I try to do a variety of different styles because people are all different aren’t they? We never know what’s going to do well and what’s going to do less well, but it’s all good and the channel is really doing well. Just sometimes the inside of my head is perhaps a little tired. But eventually something emerges! I think all the people who have art channels on KZitem are having the same problem as I am trying to describe. There is a kind of uncertainty about this process which makes us feel quite destabilised. But nothing is perfect and I think KZitem is a great resource. It certainly keeps me sane! thanks again for your kind and thoughtful comments, sending hugs Diane❤️

Hi Patricia and thanks so much for your lovely calm comment. I do know that we are reaching many people who benefit from our videos and that’s partly why it matters so much to me that I paint the right things and in the right way, because I do know it matters! It’s not so much the views from MY point of view, but from the point of view of the VIEWER if you see what I mean - I want to reach as many people as possible who NEED to see the paintings and benefit from them. That said the main thing is to retain my own equilibrium as much as possible so that I can paint! Thanks again for all your lovely continuous comments. Truly appreciate you!

We’ll get through this I know we will. I have a connection to Israel, I have family there and email regularly to my first cousin who sounds so terrified. All we can do is pray for peace, not only in Israel, but in Ukraine, and all over the world where there’s conflict. In the meantime, we’ll keep doing art therapy. Take care.

You and Emma Lefeave are feeling the same way as she was transparent on her video yesterday feeling uninspired. We all get stuck sometimes. I do say, I love your leaves, trees and flowers and I don’t think you can go wrong with any of those. Now that fall is here, the colorful fall trees are gorgeous this time of year. I love this video and what you’ve done!

Hi Sharon, yes, I have just watched Emma‘s video with Kristy Rice. I am so glad you like the paintings of nature that I do. I think a few more autumn scenes are needed before we go into winter! Thanks so much for commenting and for your support, much appreciated!

Diane i think we all hope you are painting something that you enjoy painting because your enjoyment comes through the screen. It matters... You know me i'm not a fan of something too abstract so i enjoy when you paint 'things'.... You are not going to please everyone so please yourself. I think the owl was a lovely painting. Hugs! deb

Dear beloved friend. We all love you and I think most of us identify with you. Non of us feel great every day, and sadness can come out of nowhere! You are one of the most special people in my world. You give and give, and the happiness you bring to your followers is quite evident. What you do on KZitem is just a portion of what you do for your "fans" and I am sure it can drain you at times. I hope tomorrow is a new day and all these wonderful remarks by all these lovely people make you feel just a little appreciated. We Do love and care about you, xoxoxoxoxo D

I have low-level chronic anxiety/depression, too. And like you, I come by it honestly: my father and his father both suffered depression (although in my granddad's day, WWI vet, they would have just said "shell shock" or that he was just a rather dour man). To a happier thought - I definitely like pictures of animals and other real things better than the more abstract designs. This one is lovely - loose and maybe not any "real" plants, but obviously leaves, flowers, and berries.

Thanks Karen, for sharing your thoughts about this. And it’s funny really to think about it, but I never even knew depression existed until after I’d been married for a few years and found myself looking at a divorce because my husband was so unstable. Years later he was put on drugs for depression: my son also has the same problem. My father was depressed but that was put down to the war as well. People who haven’t felt it don’t understand. I don’t even understand it myself why some days I just feel very strange and as if there’s a big hole in the middle of me. However, today I am better! So glad you enjoyed the paintings that I do! In a funny way, KZitem keeps me sane!

I LOVE the owl and mushrooms but when I tried to get the sketch all I could get was a partial one. I'm sorry you're feeling down Diane. Ive just spent time crying about more war and the atrocities. We NEED to do better. Sorry to interject that here. I love following you and appreciate your thoughts, commentary and paintings. XO

Sorry to hear that you feel so in the doldrums Diane 😢 I know how you feel and it’s very easy to feel ‘down’ when there are so many awful things happening in the world. I try not to watch the news if I can help it and each day I write down 3 positive things from the day in my journal. Keep doing what you are doing Diane …. You are very watchable and talented …. You make a lot of people very happy 😊 XX

Yes…Oliver Pyle is amazing and very different from any artist that I have seen before in the way he explains and describes art. I recently discovered him just a few weeks ago on the recommendation of a viewer on one of the YT art channels…can’t remember which one and it may have even been here, not sure. Also Paul Clark….yes, he’s great….quite humorous and a lovely chap….very down to earth and relatable. This is such a pretty painting, Diane. Thank you…as always. 💕🤗💕

By the time I get everything together I'm worn out & I have to pace myself! I'm 70 & believe me each year brings new challenges! God Bless you sending lots of love & prayers!

Hi Trina and thanks so much for your kind comments and I’m so glad you enjoy the channel. I’m a bit worried though because you say I’d not posted for a while, but although we reduced the number of videos each week from 6 to 3 that was a couple of years ago now and we haven’t missed a day since then - we post videos three times a week, and at the moment it’s Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6pm European time. Thanks so much again for your kind words and please make sure you don’t stop watching, I have missed seeing your comments! Love, Diane xxx
