At first I thought Linus had a minor obsession with rubbing it in his old boss' face, based on some of the stories he's told over the years about his old NCIX boss. Now I'm seeing it differently after hearing it described as collecting. It was an extremely important era of Linus' life and he wants to preserve and relive some of it, which I feel.

I think we have to realise that there *is* nothing to rub into his old boss's face. I think in many industries, old business owners might be totally okay with their old businesses dying. Like they already got their return of investment and made the business's lifetime worth of income from it, and the business has done its job for the niche it filled in its area, so it doesn't have to progress into an industry paragon.

However, with your fancy shop tools, it may be worthwhile to add an additional "diffuser layer" that you use as a spacer between the original sign frame that features the rgb element between the letters, the front of the sign can have a more efficient LED setup sans RGB to illuminated them like they were at your ex employer. This would also eliminate the clearance issues shown in the video. SOLID mockup, and I can't wait to see what you do to get this rocking!

English Stack Exchange has a decent answer to use the of the X in NCIX. Reason 1: The X is there as a homage to communication systems like the telegraph where a period (.) did not exist, forcing people to use an X at the end of abbreviations for convenience. Reason 2: like Rx, Tx, Pax, and Tix, an X is sometimes added to the end of abbreviations or words that are related to transportation or communication. However that is generally only applicable to nouns.

I would put the original backs in the wharegouse to be stored and make new ones out of the thinnest non conductive material you can get... maybe 1/8 thick fiberboard? The attach the componnets to one side of that facing the back of the sign and the lights on the other facing the sign front. Then get some clear flexible plastic sheeting and cut the letters out and sand them so they are not clear anymore to act as a diffuser so the closer lights don't show easily. Add some spacer to the wood letter that just thick enough to keep the LED's off the plastic. Then build the PC off that and everything that sticks out has a hole in the box that hides the cables and tubes.

Do you foresee any logistical issues between having your office and writers in the labs building vs having them in the production building?

Linus making things 10x harder just because he wants the original sign instead of custom making his own sign to fit everything in it without problems is exactly why I stay subscribed.

Beared man is now one of my favorites. Keep him on camera please. Haha. He makes Linus eyeroll and it's the best! Can't wait to see him and Riley together.

I think the only way your going to get even lighting is to run your led tape around the inside of the letter as close to the face as possible but not so close that you get hot spots. White components will help. I build signs for a living and PCs for fun. This was a cool video!

I love that Linus is forever ribbing on ncix because he knows he could have single handedly saved their business with his tech tips channel
