Honestly, any movie that takes place in a middle/high school that has nothing to do with gaining popularity is already a good direction. Seeing a group of dorky/nerdy kids comfortable with who they are is so refreshing an I love it. The overbearing helicopter parents was relatable, dealing with puberty, relatable, the entire thing is relatable and real. It's just a very realistic portrayal of how middle school kids act, while adding fantasy and downright whackyness to it.

A healthy family dynamic needs all of its members to contribute to it. They will bash the child for "rebelling", but not the parents for being overbearing, setting high expectations, not trusting their kids and not allowing them to be their true selves, disregarding their needs and wants. Some people are so obsessed with "protecting" children that they disregard them as actual human beings that exist outside the role of their parents' child.

That’s because were more use to the status quo Disney/Pixar made since the renaissance of classic Disney and Pixar movies not taking a second to think on how experimenting and trying new things is what got them to success and while at first I didn’t think much when I saw it but ever since then I keep remembering the characters it themes and how shockingly relatable the main character is it’s not perfect far from it but than again you can say that for every movie but anyway this is good movie with great passion behind it and I think people need to be little more open to change because it can be good thing for the companies and franchises even if there is a few bumps in the road we’ll you know

I cried my eyes out MULTIPLE times during this movie because it reminded me, as someone who is AFAB, of middle school. Mei's friends reminded me of my friends, Mei's relationship with her mom very much reminded me of the one I had (and sort of still have) with mine, it was just a relatable film, and that made me cry, you don't really get that these days.

At it’s core, the thing that’s makes this movie works so well for me is it’s themes of identity. Mei Lee struggling to balance her wild side, cultural side, and the relationship she has with her family and friends is such a compelling story, while also having the 2000s vibe be sort of like dressing for it. I’m shocked at how well these two halves complimented each other and am so glad you loved this film as much as you did.

One of the better animated movies I've seen recently, me and my gf were laughing out loud during that whole stadium scene, and we're both close to 30. Mei's friends reminded me of my highschool friends as well, we were all very different on the outside (a metalhead, a gangsta rap guy, a nerdy guy & an outgoing extrovert) but got along perfectly and did everything together. Also you forgot to mention the best scene of the entire movie: AWOOGA!

Spoilers below for anyone who hasn’t seen the movie yet I especially agree that what they did with Tyler’s character was great and the fact that the girls immediately adopt him into their friend group when they find out he’s a 4*townie is adorable. Ooo and the entire stadium sequence from the 4*town performance to the final ritual was amazing!

I've heard people bring the criticism that this movie is made weaker in terms of the generational trauma elements because Encanto did it before this movie was released, but I think both films compliment each other. Encanto handles generational trauma with respect to family dynamics, while Turning Red is specific to a mother-daughter dynamic and how Ming's trauma as a teen has impacted her relationship to Mei. There's also the specific cultural contexts that both films present. Even though they handle the same subject, they present it in different ways.

Turning on Turning Red its really not that hard to see at least some elements that felt simliar to encanto. Nevertheless, i remeber so much more good parts about turning red now, its such a great movie. its completely bonkers in all the right ways, mei and her friends are so lovable, relatable, funny and mostly authentic as fuck. i can completely immerse myself into this movie and remeber all the things i did not so long ago in middle school. great times also i wanna go that concert as well, these songs are fireeee 🔥

This seemed to me to come off as the most reluctant praise ever heaped on a movie. Worry less about your supposed street cred and just embrace what I believe to be a masterpiece. The Red Moon Ritual sequence and the part where Mei meets her Mom as a young teenager are Oscar worthy on their own Most of the emotional beats come from left field and hit hard. That final speech of Ming's to her daughter in the bamboo forest absolutely destroyed me first time around..and second, third and fourth time too. As I keep saying, this movie is so ridiculously good, it's untrue! Definitely one of Pixar's best.

I’ve finally watched Turning Red and I really like it. I was expecting it to be a weaker Pixar movie and a warm up for Pixar’s Lightyear (Which I expected to be a real masterpiece, like how Onward was a warm up for Soul). Boy I was wrong, Lightyear was totally average but Turning Red was a blast. This movie reminded me of Big Mouth due to it’s coming of age concepts displayed through home life, school life connection with family and friends and Monsters that display various emotions. Then again I am getting kinda sick of Big Mouth. Not because of the haters (they don’t know what they talk about) but because the writing get worse the more I think about it and the concept are getting kinda boring too. Turning Red however feels like a better concept done with better writing. I suggest this movie gets a sequel to deal with other interesting concepts such as Mei getting a boyfriend. Anyway since I finally watched Turning Red, I finally watched your video on it. I knew you live in America but Never new you were half Chinese and half Korean. Must feel good to have Pixar make a banger about your culture. If Pixar ever makes a movie about my Country/Culture (New Zealand) I would be hyped.

i don't kwon if I should make an entire article of why i like the movie uhhhhh idk edit:i forgot about the turning red review with a lot of spoilers on it Turning red is probably one of the funiest movies I have seen in my entire life, probably because of it short pasted like humor, like one of the scenes in the beginning of the movie, and by far, the funniest thing in the movie is when Ming turns into a giant red panda godzila, funniest thing ever, and even without the humor, the movie is still extremely good, even in the story itself, and it's characters, like Mei and Abby, which are the personification of chaos and destruction itself, and with it almost universal message about puberty and the changes you go trough you body, for me it could be enjoyed almost perfectly like if the movie can talk both about the puberty that boys go through and the same way around with girls, but probably the message that the movie was gone is about the accepting yourself as how you are. The movie is a 10/10 for me ok that's it adios
