Gary you are hands down head and shoulders above every other guitar teacher on the internet. Period. The Fret Live multiplies that by 10. Keep up the great work it is really appreciated.

I absolutely love the way that you teach and how you have put all this info together it is amazing, it is unfortunate for me that I am unable to join your patron channel as my pension is not enough to afford that, I am 70 now, but I am fortunate to be able to watch part of these lessons on KZitem they are very informative and educational the best I have seen on KZitem and I am very grateful for that I thank you so much for allowing some of us that are unable to join you to still be able to learn more than what we know already and for me I don't know very much. Once again thank you for all the time and knowledge , hours that you have put into creating these videos to teach us how to play better on guitar.

Wonderful! I am working on major scales. Have been for the last several weeks and this lesson was kind of like a reward for all the drudgery (truth be told I like playing scales but it's not super fulfilling). Thanks!

Do songs usually start on the root of the key? Like if you hear a song, do you find the key and then start of the root and go from there ?

Awesome Video! love your way of teaching. When you are playing the same riff in a different positions, what is the best way to memorize the notes? Do you memorize the root notes as reference point?

thanks for this Gary. I noticed you are an "Interval" man. you definately look like you focus on the 1,2,3,4 etc and not the notes. is it because the majority of people you teach find the notes daunting?
@PowMusic
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian! I do so because note names are arbitrary, while intervals are absolute. It's the distances between notes that make music sound the way it does - the study of harmony is the study of intervals. When we transpose the patterns of intervals to different keys (different note names) - the character of the melody/harmony/etc. remain the same....so to understand intervals in any one key, is to understand it in all keys. I hope that makes sense!

This is confusing as hell. Students need to know high E ,b and g string first and the linear scales on them.
