I hate AZ mounts. I adore EQ mounts. Especially ones that track. I can leave the scope go inside come out 30 min later and just twist a knob and I am back on the target. Plus it takes like less than 2 min to polar align.

@@lornaz1975 I agree with you I like equatorial mountains for that reason specially if you like high-powered views of the planets I do have the svbony az mount but I use it mainly for solar viewing and for quick grab and go In this video for those that didn’t know it could be done. I thought I showed them. Thanks for watching.

Another reason to do this is that one lives near north or south pole :-)

@@janomacko5764 OK I appreciate the comments and can see your points because if it was on an equatorial mount, I’ll be pointing so much higher pointing so I could see that

This doesn't make much sense with telescopes that have focusers at the back side like refractors of SCTs, since one can just rotate the diagonal. However it would be perfect for like 6 inch f5 Newtonian set up in such way that the focuser is always in horizontal position and around the eye-height of a standing person. I think it's a great way to avoid weird positions of the eyepiece with a Newtonian without rotating the telescope in its rings. I have such Newtonian on skywatcher AZ4, and if I had only some equatorial mount, I would probably set it like on your video, because I like to change targets on the sky frequently, and rotating the tube all the time would be annoying.

@@janomacko5764 OK another great points actually and I was just thinking if I want to use a StarSense, then I can use it in this mode because StarSense does not work in the equatorial mode so that could be another reason Thanks for watching

Joe, Ive also heard that Starsense doesn't work for EQ. Is that really true? Have you already experimented with that?

@@stephenkwong4458 yeah actually I tested that Siri I made a video on it probably nine months to 12 months ago. If you go back on my channel, you’ll see it and I didn’t understand why as long as you get to the end point it should still find your object, but once I started using it and started seeing how the motions interfered with the app rotation, then I understood it. So StarSense can only be used on a non-equatorial mount
