Really nice video… in process of similar project on a different bike… key to the headlight conundrum is having the wiring pinout for the controller switch you are using…. U need 12 volt into the control switch and then the high and low wires are the 12 volt outputs to the headlight… then connect headlight return to a ground…

Glad I saw your comment, helpful! I wish YOU would do a video on this! I'm sure you know the "rubber wrapping" on the wires is called insulation...😉😀

I did the exact same thing on my 2002 xr650r tusk kit with the Baja light !!! Great work I wish I would have watched this before so save myself some struggle 😂 🤙🏼

The Rocky Mountain control switch video was very helpful. Idk about that headlight, but those beams may pull too much power for those wires… at least according to the Rocky Mountain video. I ended up running a new power wire directly from the battery with an inline fuse in a thicker gauge wire to the black, then the blue and white go to the high and low beam. The headlight got a ground directly to a grounding spot in the bike. Hope that’s helpful.

Oh that’s interesting. The headlight seems to be working fine for now.

The black an white is the neutral the red to black is your power going to switch when switch is flipped to low or high beam sends power too blue wire too lite an back thru the white an black to complete circuit

12:35 is what I came for.. Would be helpful if Tusk pointed out in their diagram that their harness assumes headlight power already exists. I plan on pulling power from the brake light power wire

So the headlight is getting ground from the switch

Why would the headlight need power if the switch is the regulator of the power and has power going to it?

Tusk is junk. And Al Baker's aftermarket parts are just as bad. But BD definitely makes some quality stuff. Anyone out there looking to go the dual kit route or just the LED upgrade, make sure you have all the right parts and you know what you're doing. 🔧
