Loved learning how to do this. So glad i discovered you - you are wonderful! Thank you!I have a couple of German-made Honer Accordions. love their rich sound. As an older lady I also love that they are lighter than the Italian ones. 🇦🇺

That model you are fixing in white was my first Hohner when I was 8. I’ve moved on to Italian accordions but I always have one around in GCF. I’ve owned 2 red coronas like the one here and I just ordered a Cii in Silver. Hope it’s like my previous ones. I heard the buttons are more recessed and reeds less dry.

I found my first accordion at a flea market also. A red Curtini Grand, Button accordion. Now I'm experiencing the same issue as you, its quite complicated to take apart looks like I need to take off the buttons to remove the board.

Hey Simon, thanks for sharing! My first was a Hohner Concerto II. Got it for just €50. Little did I know where that would lead me...

you have different blades for the deburr tool, there is a blade that cuts off very little even if you press hard - blade geometry is different.

Let me guess: Van Nuys, Pacoima, San Fernando, Granada Hills? I HATED it, especially the flatness. I'm from hilly Echo Park but was at Cal State U. Northridge, 1975-80 living in Northridge, Reseda, and finally Panorama City.

Could be a few things. Just be careful and open it up, and you should be able to see where they are sticking. Sorry, but don't know that accordion.

@@TomsMusicShop oh it’s the russian word for accordion, the only difference is instead of keys on the right, there’s buttons. it’s a lot easier to play

what if one of the bass buttons is stuck

Hmm, on what kind of accordion? Could be the bass mechanism, in which case you will have to remove the cover an have a look.

The L.H. buttons tend to stick because the box becomes distorted, which puts the whole mechanism out of whack. It's not as simple a matter as re-shaping the button board. The mechanism on old Hohners tends to hang up on itself.

I think the wood warps a little, but it’s slight enough that this fix works.
