Thanks, man! I like the amaran series a lot. Bought it over two years ago. 12 leds out of 3x672 kicked it and with one of the lights I have trouble using it as a charger for the batteries, because the plastic mounts for the batteries are a little looser now and the contacts aren't reached. I put a thick rubber band around both batteries which keeps them in the right place and it worked. So it's not pro quality, but still a good bang for your buck lighting option....

Hey, love the video! I don't have $500 to drop on lighting though. Any suggestions on cheaper lighting? Thanks! Video looks great!
@Mark10ProVideo
7 жыл бұрын
Hey wicked Flame Films! If you want to keep things real simple you can just a single lightsource and pretty much blast your face with light while spot metering the face. If you then have a dark room that should completely underexpose the background and turn it into black. So here a single lightsource would do, but you then can't do variations. But then again variations aren#t a must, as long as you like the image, the image is good. As far as recommendations go: There's of course the samller versions of the Aputure Amaran lights. The 528s for example or the 198s you can pick up for around 50$ each. Keep in mind, less light usually means the lightsource has to be closer to you to get the desired effect and that means your possible widest framing becomes smaller. Then a solid ringlight is the best choice imho when it comes to a single light setup. You can get a deal on one that will do the job for around 150-200&$ like from Neewer or the Diva:) And if you're really able to make the room you're shooting in dark and can manage to get relatively far away from the black background and are ok with beeing close to the camera, which then looks more like a talking head video, a ringlight or led light for the hotshoe of your camera, or one that can be mounted around the lens itself, will do just fine. You can pick up a good one like the Amaran Halo for around 60$. Neewer has one that works with regular batteries if that's more to your liking. Hope that helps you out! Unfortunatelly lighting usually isn't cheap if it's good AND durable. I have almost always gone with the most expensive lighting I was able to buy and then rework my setup and alter it from my original ideas to something that worked with the lighting I way able to afford. It is the better choice, because the real cost you have to consider always with anything is the "cost per day". if you spent more now but benefit from the lights for two whole years having good warranty for example in case of damage or whatnot, then the cost per day might be as low or even lower then using cheaper lighting that doesn't last you as long. So my reccomendation no 1 would be: no matter on what you decide on is to get the best quality you can afford always. Because you will benefit in the long run through the cost per day. Thank you for the nice comment and Greetings!

@Mark10ProVideo
5 жыл бұрын
Hey, Jian Li:) I used different ones. The main one was the lavalier mic, the audio technica atr 3350, recorded directly into my zoom h1 field recorder. I can't recall everything I did back then, but maybe some Rode Video Mic Pro is in there as well. Both of those mics I still use. Lately, since I have a sony I treated myself to an xlr k2m for the sony. I obviously use the shotgun mic it comes with, but am thinking about using the wireless rode filmmaker kit or a wireless lavalier solution as A audio and the shotgun mic as B audio.

i sappose you couldnt do this with a camcorder ? also if i stick black fabric to a wall and then switch my ring light on it will show reflection of the ring light yes? i think my next step is to purchase good camera. i may get 70d . are u happy with it also on the 70 d can you turn down the sharpness? thankyou so much!
@Mark10ProVideo
7 жыл бұрын
Hello, Angelique ASMR! Depends on the camcorder really. I don't see why not actually. Does it have manual controls? How big is the sensor. Smaller is better with the infinite black. Only polished surfaces reflect. Black fabric really should not reflect. The easiest way to find out is to use the ring light on full blast right in front of your face with the black background behind you, the camcorder will automatically try to expose your face correctly and drop the blacks, so the background is a clean black. Maybe you have to set the metering mode to spot focus, if that is available with the camcorder (what model is it?) to get the effect. The 70D is a reliable workhorse with very good AF. What kind of videos do you want to do, may I ask? You can decrease sharpness from within the menu, but why would you want to do that? Greetings!
@AngeliqueASMR
7 жыл бұрын
Hi thank heaps for your reply I appreciate it! The camera I own at the moment is the canon legria hf R706 .with the sharpness not shure if its just my camcorder but it shows every little thing on face things i cant see in real life I like a very smoothed look on my skin and thia camera is horrible for that i have a ring light and 2 light boxes and it doesnt nothing. I heard on a dslr you can turn the sharpness down and it will help the skin to look smooth? My videos are asmr so I have to get up close to the camera . I was just looking last night at the 80 d i think ill purchase that. With my videos sometimes I want to shoot a small area with me in it and then sometimes a huge area . Is that availabe with the lens the camera 80d comes with or would I need to purchase another lens? With the black backround ill get aome black fabric and see how it works .the options on the legria hfr706 are manual. Thankyou!! 👍
@Mark10ProVideo
7 жыл бұрын
The legria has a pretty small sensor, so the dynamic range is very limited, compared to a dslr. A black screen should work well I think. Ringlight and two softboxes is a good setup. Works well. 80D definitely lets you scale the sharpness. The 18 135 kit lens is not wide at 18mm. The canon is a crop factor camera, so 18 x 1.6 equals 28,8mm full frame equivalent. I would recommend the Canon 10 18 STM lens, given the 1.6x crop factor of the 80D you will get a 16 - 28,8 mm full frame equivalent. At 16mm you will get a very good wide angle shot and at 28,8mm you will get a decently narrow shot I believe for what you want to do. The 10-18 STM is a really good lens with a decent price tag to it. Another thought, maybe that is not what you*re looking for at all, but you can do cool videos with a smartphone as well. S7 Edge has the Samsung lens cover kit with a very good wide angle: kzitem.info/news/bejne/jqeD36eemJ1on3Y And the blackscreen is done relatively easy: kzitem.info/news/bejne/yY2ErplpgWSqo4o Again, maybe not what you*re looking for, but maybe still interesting. To get smooth skin you can also use filters when editing the video in your software. What software do you use to edit? Greetings!
