I use to practice Krav Maga in my home dojo with a Krav Maga instructor. We also practiced kickboxing, JKD Bruce Lee's art and Brazilian Jui-Jitsu along with San Soo Kung Foo without a gi.

Some excellent movements shown here-the main idea s to act not wait- that way you will have the movement in progress before he reacts. He is focusing on the touch-you are getting ahead of him...saying it will not work - try it then decide.

Well said, if you got nothing else from this video I'd say movement and anticipation in motion is something I needed to click into my head! Often times we already do these things, however watching it makes it a little more conscious and you can be present in doing so.

This video makes me nervous. I practice krav and can confirm that there is no way a closed grip on the attackers wrist will hold should he resist. Particularly if the attacker is stronger. The whole arm needs to be controlled and must be pressed tight against your chest using both arms. To me, this looks like very bad practice and considering this is knife survival, it looks high risk and could well get you killed. This is certainly not current krav maga training.

I'd agree, in my experience I was much much much stronger! I wasn't super experienced in this, however I cold not maintain that grip from the speed of my opponents fear. If I do have a grip I find most success in wedging or pinching or if you require both hands, grabbing your own wrist can be essential.

Kravs become extremely popular, those of us who created the popularity (not me but not-not me, I often shared this with people) Just like word of mouth, once krav passes through hands a couple dousen times....it's gonna dilude and personalize/"update" I was in no way shape or form impressed by this video, however if you want real krav you need to do your research and look for the authentic teachers.

I see the basis of aikido in this art. Dirty boxing combined with a practical take on aikido...so that's what Krav is all about?

I disagree. Krav Maga is general teaches the students that in situations where your fight or flight instincts kick in, You do what you have to do to make it out and get away. It wasn't meant to kick your sisters ass or the obnoxious neighbor that keeps filling your trashcan up. It's main goal is to give the learners a fighting chance more or less. They teach you to constantly attack while also defending. That's your fight or flight. And when that kicks in you fight and you don't stop until you can get away from your attacker or you've rendered them silent.
