Very detailed and effective instructions. I practically had them memorized from the 80s.

What makes this safety video sad is that the passengers on TWA Flight 800 might've seen it before it exploded in midair.

True story, some bodies recovered from the TWA 800 crash site had life vests on them, these people were presumably seated in the rear part of the plane, and were believed to have been alive after the initial explosion, its unclear whether or not these people were alive when they hit the water. In any case it's very sad R.I.P to all the victims of flight 800.

It was probably used from the late 80s (probably 1988 or 1989) to 1995 I think.

Before the 1990s, yes There's a rule now that smoking isn't allowed thanks to someone tossing a lit cigarette down a lavatory toilet resulting in an explosion Some airlines may still have an ashtray on the armrests of seats. This is due to fleets not being able the modernize or refurbish their interiors, but they're still handy should someone actually do light a cigarette My original belief on why smoking inside an aircraft was prohibited had to do with second-hand smoking, but then again, they had a smokers section.

In 1988 smoking was banned on flights shorter than 2 hours, then 6 hours in 1990, and finally completely in 2000 on all flights.
