This was really well done. You managed to be very entertaining without being at all insensitive. I would honestly happily sit and watch you two reviewing any old strongman show. Something like Pure strength with both on you on voiceover instead would be hilarious.

The team event looked cool. Moving a truck bare-handed and loading massive tires on to the flat bed looks like something that could be optimized and made a more popular event.

Arm breaks aren’t as bad as they look normally. The bone heals stronger, and much quicker than a tendon or muscle injury

@@Todzil Yeah I snapped my radius+ulna years ago and it was healed in 4 weeks. Took another few weeks after the cast came off to develop the forearm muscle back, but apart from that I had zero issues. Lifted weights on it with no bother for years. It hurt like hell, but of all the things you could break those two bones are probably some of the least serious. I imagine a femur or tib/fib break would be horrendous.

They’ve mentioned before that Liz does a lot of the research for the videos. Impressive that she even knows where to look, because I consider myself a big strongman fan but I know I haven’t watched Britain’s strongest man 1981 😂

10 minutes in and finding this weirdly enjoyable. Not the injuries obviously but it’s fun seeing events I’ve never even heard of before, and watching your reactions is pretty funny. Liz put this list together and she’s still hiding behind her hands 😂

In Australia Nathan Jones is known as the colossus of boggo road. In his early days he spent time in boggo road jail in Brisbane and he famously ripped the door off his cell in a rage. It’s crazy how strong he was

Probably not gonna happen, The WAL and any other big Armwrestling league don't like you showing arm breaks, thinks it gives the sport a bad rep. The sad thing is if they showed it more and explained properly what happens and why it happens not as many armwrestling amateurs would break their arms...

Can totally relate to the whole in shock, don’t feel the pain thing. I broke my neck playing rugby. I heard the cracks and everything, No pain at all. Then the adrenaline wears off and it’s a whole new ball game 😂

I broke my neck snowboarding backcountry at Mt.Baker. I managed to ride all the way out and drove myself home. I don’t remember the drive at all though. Scary looking back. The human body is insane.

Loz would make a damn good strength sports commentator. So many athletes move on to sports commentating and even go on to commentate sports they never have competed in. I could see him do strongman all the way to bodybuilding and powerlifting. So well informed and always respectful.

@@IosifStalinsendsyoutoGulag I had two hairline fractures on L5. It was diagnosed incorrectly as a prolapsed disc. They stretched me in physio to relieve pressure on the disc and this pulled the bone apart along one of the weaknesses. They messed around for another 6 months doing MRI scans, CT scans, blood tests, etc. Eventually, I rolled over in bed, there was a cracking noise and it broke along the other fracture. The vertebra collapsed trapping the nerves to my legs and has I had to have emergency surgery to save them, but was still paralysed for about a week. Took about a year to recover. Though it is very painful all the time and I have OxyContin 24/7. Still doing the lifting though. Just got to be very careful.

I have L4L5 and L5S1 herniated discs, the latter being degenerated and pressing on my sciatic nerves...at 23 yo without any major injuries or lifting history...at the same time there are strongmen like Hafthor, that lift very heavy and push their bodies to the limits and still have a healthy spine! How?!

Even more unfair if you are an athlete and struggle with a sedentary lifestyle. A tip for you though. There is a new treatment out of Australia called cognitive physiotherapy that can give you an active life back, but it is very hardcore and a lot of pain in the short-medium term for a benefit in the long term all the best mate👍

I cringed with every injury that was shown. Its crazy, I can laugh my ass off when a skateboarder injures themselves, but when athletes do it, I always shut my eyes, and sort of do an unconscious wince.

I never thought about the injuries the one that always stayed in my mind was the Franco Colombo with the fridge. My favorite growing up was Magnus Van Magnason. First I thought of was Mark Philippi, but the worst I've ever HEARD was an athlete (sorry, blanking on the name...thinking possibly Grant Higa?) at a Canada's Strongest Man or North American Open event in the wheelbarrow walk. He simultaneously tore both quads and the blood curdling scream he let out almost made me vomit. My eyes teared up as I felt so bad for him.

I don't remember what year was but there was an Olympic weightlifter doing a snatch and the catch position the right arm dislocated at the elbow and the forearm dropped down into his tricep. And then to add insult to the injury the bar that came down on top of the back of his neck.

It's mad, I've been thinking about your 446 recently Loz, and whether I should ever mention it in your video comments, or if it's a taboo subject. But that 446 was going up mate, if u hadn't got that injury, that was definitely going up. & I'd never seen that side angle!, Brutal. That one and the Achilles when you're just lying there under the yoke, I remember looking at the TV thinking, I hope he's ok, I empathized with on both occasions man. Anyway all mended now. Another great video mate. Also started on the GSN pot of golds, thanks for putting those in your day in the life video, it's a quick and easy way to get your calorie & protein quota in for the day.

I threw up a little in my mouth watching that Atlas stone falling on that Canadian strongman. That was really grim! I wanna thank you for backing up this list with video clips. I know it is not always possible, but it can be, for me at least, hard to imagine or visualize what you are taking about. The knowledge from 'The Artist Formerly Known As Auntie Liz' who is somewhat morbid it would seem is just ... wauw! It is truly out of this world. Thank you for another great although horrible video. EDIT: Btw, didn't know Liz could speak Danish. The commentator literally said the second before she said it that it was two former World Strongest Man winners that was competing in that lorry loading with tires :D

They had an arm wresting tournament on a football panel show in Australia. Two retired players were against each other and one of them ended up with an extremely nasty injury that is still causing issues for him today. It was live TV so they had to hastily cut away and the host was ghostly white

as someone whos been shot and torn a muscle from the bone, as well as torn an ACL, MCL, and meniscus at the same time, which was the worst. being shot is far less worse if its a through and through.

I watched your vlogs of the 2019 WSM, & Always remember poor Liz huffing n puffy n grunting as she struggled to push you in your wheelchair around Orlando (I believe) airport. Franco's was the first strongman injury of them all. He was born bow legged I believe (certainly had bow legs throughout his bodybuilding career). I wonder if that attributed to his knee giving out?

i was really nervous about this, but morbid curiosity got me. this was really well done. they dont focus on the injury, no slow mo rewind crap. most of the injuries, while bad, aren't grusome (no blood, or bone or anything). still dont know why i watched haha

The worst lift I've ever had in my life when I was much smaller and weaker was lifting a shower bath all in one up 3 flights of spiral steps by myself at 17 or 18. I have lifted fridges up steps and nothing has compared to that. I have only twice felt close to death and that was one of them.
