It's hard to believe the amount of light bulbs that were used on game show sets back then, especially in this age of LED'S. Anyway, this is a cool game. Quite enjoyable!

You are SO right!!! NBC canned Sale of the Century, Super Password and later Win, Lose or Draw. CBS canned Card Sharks and the short lived Now You See It. Syndication canned John Davidson Hollywood Squares. Talk shows were the craze by that point.

@@PGTransformed Soon, I wonder if networks will be news-heavy. If so, more people might flee to streaming.

I assume there was a penalty for an incorrect answer to a question, (meaning money would be subtracted from a team's score.)

Love seeing Markie and Fred! Also love seeing a totally 80s game show! Skimmed through the video…the game format isn’t very viewer-friendly, imo. The back-and-forth exchanges between teammates get tiresome quickly! I will give props for the visuals and use of 80s video tech! The host is pretty good, too! 👍

Well, it's a pilot-- normally, they have to rig a pilot and get a winner in a bonus game (if the show has one) to make it presentable to the NATPE people, as long as the pilot isn't intended for air.

Pros: - Based of a solid format existing since the 19th century - Host is likable (sounds a bit like Bob Hilton) - The set is gorgeous Cons: - Format is quickly forgettable due to the 2 common game show at the time where you “shout random clues = contestant makes potential right guess” that being the just ended “Super Password” and Pyramid already being as close in format to this show and much popular. My bottom line: This show is great but came at a wrong time unfortunately. Doubt the 90’s wouldn’t help with the influx of Jerry Springer and their clones, 2000’s wouldn’t made it better with Millionaire and courtroom shows, It has a place in my heart. I recommend continuing trying to be a gameshow host, looks good on you

I get it that this is just the pilot and the contestants are fake, but if I were Babs and did so abysmally asking questions in the final I might elect to have the celebrity ask if I got back there again.

Really shoddy post-production editing, I'm guessing. Much like with Dean Goss announcing the 1988 Jumble pilot and Richard Kline referring to him as Charlie O'Donnell.

My guess is in both cases they had Burton/Charlie lined up but for whatever reason it didn't happen and Bob/Dean were added in post.

This pilot for a revived “20 Questions” was a complete ripoff of both the “$25,000 and $100,000 Pyramids” and the bonus round was another ripoff of the “Winner’s Circle” round.

A lot of hosts do that "I'll pay $X" I hate it cause like you said, it's not their money but whatever. To me Dick's voice reminds me of Wayne Cox, who hosted several shows here in Canada.

There was another pilot in 1988 with Markie Post & Rue McClanahan Vs. Ned Beatty & Harry Anderson. The hosts were Ilene Graff & Mike Jerrick. Ilene mentioned this during her Christmas '88 appearance on "Super Password".
