Did I somehow miss the video on the mid-war Soviet cards? Great content and congratulations on the marriage.

Problem with this game is everyone who still plays it is so damn good. If you’re new it’s impossible to play online. The AI is so awful playing against the CPU won’t get you any better, and playing online means going against someone with 2,500 games under their belt. New players play for a week or so before realizing it’s pointless. A decent AI to practice against would be a big help.

There is a discord channel where you can find players for pickup games and even try your hand at league play. I haven’t played a lot of online games myself but I am signed up for the online league and I can’t wait.

@The Winning Agenda , you don't have a video about Mid War USSR cards! Part 4 is US, part 5 - Neutral and part 6 is directly late war!

Have really enjoyed your introduction to Twilight Struggle. Two questions for you. One, Which card should you choose for the head liner. Two, When is it beneficial to play a card for the event as compared to the number of ops? Thanks,

Hey David! Those are very tough questions to answer, it's very situational. In terms of headlines, I usually start with my events and neutral events, think about which of them will impact regions likely to be scored soon most, and which will affect DEFCON favourably. Then, if there's nothing good, think about opponent's events and which would be best to dump, either because it would be comparatively low impact now or because getting rid of a 1 op in the headline phase will maximise my ops for the turn, for example. Playing cards for events vs ops (your cards and neutral cards) depends on whether the effect is likely to be worth more in tempo, region scoring, or country control than the ops value placed in the best spot on the board. The other options (coups and realignments) similarly depend on the same thought process.

@@TheWinningAgenda Thanks for your informative reply. My next question has to do with the cards. My short term memory is ok but I think I would have difficulty remembering cards being discarded or re-schuffled. Is there a paper system that I could use to keep track of the cards? Your thoughts Jesse.?

congrats! i don't get how ussr is not stronger even with +2 influence, people said that us makes a comeback in late game but ussr has equally stronger cards. would be great if someone could give me some insight about it

The standard influence handicap gives 2 extra influence to the US player in setup, which mitigates some of the more brutal turn 1 plays from the USSR. The USSR definitely has some strong plays in the late war, but the US cards affect Europe pretty strongly and Europe is the hardest region to shift the dial in usually. There are also some recurring events from earlier that are stronger for the US player (EEU) or weaker for the USSR player (Cambridge 5, other cancelled events) in the late war.
