As a fan of Western movies and short episodes, this is my favorite Twilight Zone episode that flashes back to the old Western days. Look at Jared Garrity, portrayed by John Dehner, resurrect that adorable stray dog back to life. Awesome trick, Mr. Garrity. 👍

This was orig. supposed to be a wry, comedic episode, hints of which sneak through here in the broad characters and selection of some well-known comic actors as the townspeople.

Towards the end of the episode, Garrity retrieves his dog and places him in the wagon. There’s a fan under the wagon blowing fog into the picture.

FUN FACT: This ep was based on a true incident in 1873, when a charlatan came to Alta, a mining town in the mountains of Utah, and promised to raise all the dead in its Boot Hill in exchange for a fee. The townspeople were initially receptive to the idea, but (subtly prompted by the charlatan's accomplice) got to thinking about those who'd inherited property, or re-married after the death of a spouse. In the end they paid the man to leave town without doing anything. The story was written up in the newsletter of a ski resort that was subsequently built there in the 1950s; Serling visited the resort on vacation, happened to read the story, and the rest is history.

I've read that Serling paid the gentleman 500 dollars to use that story on The Twilight Zone. The man gladly accepted.

Some things should be left alone. The one that played the business partner didn't do a very good job, but that Garrity sure does a job of resurrecting. Lol!

This is almost identical story to the story called 'Elijah Comes to Red Horse ' , written by Louis L'Amour.

One of the best (and sadly forgotten) episodes of the TZ....but who really wrote it???? Who wrote the script? Don't believe that fake name they attribute it to...
