With low mount turbos like that, you likely need sumps and scavenge pumps on them to stop them from pooling oil like that. I know quite a few folks who've run custom low mount setups on different platforms and encountered pretty much the same issue, seems to be an issue with not being able to purge the flow quickly enough.
@SalvagetoSavage

That's what we're thinking. Something similar to what the old Porche's had when running setups like this!

@Brock_Landers

@@SalvagetoSavage The OP is absolutely right. I still remember looking into the original STS remote mounted turbo kits and they integrate a sump pump to return the oil to the pan from the turbo. I think that a good quality electric oil pump would do those turbos wonders. I can almost guarantee that it'd eliminate the smoking. If you leave it like that for long enough it'll destroy the oil seals in the turbos and they'll have to be rebuilt. Ask almost every guy who's ever purchased an eBay turbo how important oil drainage is...lol I've had quite a few of them and as long as they have a -3 an feed and an unobstructed, unkinked, and free flowing -10 an drain line they'll work fine (as long as they were built semi-decent). I put 25,000+ miles on a $90 eBay 50 trim T3/T4 with my B18B1 swapped/cammed/built head in my EJ8 Civic at 15 psi and 412 whp. I still own that car and it has a fully built LSVTEC with an eBay dual ball bearing/billet compressor wheel turbo that now makes 709 whp at 29.5 psi and it doesn't smoke at all.

@@carlevers5807 Al's builds are actually a few of the ones I know of, the 4th generation Liberty wagon with the 3584RS is my mate Ian's. He got the idea from the 5th gen Liberty GT low mount setup that Subaru did. They were also building that kind of setup as an off-the-shelf kit for the GT86/BRZ platform under the brand Coyoda, might be worth shooting him (Turbo Yoda/Alan Butler) an email and asking him what setup he used for pumping/sumps. I believe he might actually have surplus gear, and it was all certainly similarly sized to the turbos you're using here.

It is a cool car. They customized it more then I’d prefer though. A better engine and the sound proofing inside would be fine for me. Don’t care for the wide look or an engine that big. Anything bigger then the underpowered stock engine is good. I think they came with a turbo option that was decent, which should have been the base model, not an upgrade.
@BFKAnthony817
2 жыл бұрын
@@shaunkelly9053 They never officially had turbos in the 80's version, though twin turbo widebody setup was conceptualized to be put into GT racing series and it had a really crazy body kit for it designed in the early 80's. One test mule engine was created though for one car back in the day. The Crew 2 actually has pretty similar body kit pieces you can use to build a close replica of it. The Deluxo from GTA VC was actually fairly similar looking to that design. But the new ones being built in Texas have an option for upgraded turbos, or you can take your Delorean and get a stage 2 upgrade that puts it at nearly 300ho. Still would want more than that for this day and age though, but a decent improvement to poor performance of the original. It was something like 130hp AFTER the US emissions were added. Auto versions robbed more HP. But the Eurospec ones were a bit better I believe lacking any emission tech.
@shaunkelly9053
2 жыл бұрын
@@BFKAnthony817 really? I heard there was an option for some sort of upgrade to the engine. It wasn’t much but was better then stock. I like the car and 300 hp doesn’t sound bad. I guess it’s just because of the weight of the body that it needs a lot of power.
@BFKAnthony817
2 жыл бұрын
@@shaunkelly9053 The Delorean only weighs 2,718 lb, so not exactly the heaviest 2 seat "sports" car out there. The underbody is based on a Lotus design and fiberglass made by Composite Technologies. The stainless steel panels are bolt-on. Though the turbo upgrade you are thinking of is offered by DMC in Houston. They planned a turbo back in the day(the original company) but you will never find any Stock turbo Deloreans as none were produced above 130hp. You would expect it to be widely known if there were any stock-turboed Deloreans around. The DMC DeLorean S2 '04 that you have seen in every main Gran Turismo title since GT4 is that updated version, which was the original prototype that the company created back in 2004. That is why still to this day in GT7 is still referred to as that car with stage 2 upgrades. Hence the S2 in the name. It has taken that company until not too long ago to get approved by the US government to produce the car from new old stock parts as a low-volume automobile that does not have to meet 21st-century safety regulations.

Could it be blocked, closed or non existent so 100% of the pressure is trying to make it to the engine and causing the issue? If that's even a thing on the design.

Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!!! (BABBVEN LAWS AND TEBBVEN ORDERS)

Are you pumping to much fuel through the pump to the rail causing it to blow out the orings? I know working on tractors (farm equipment) the fuel rails have a pressure relief valve and will pop open once you hit a certain psi. Idk if that engine needs that to keep that from happening and causing all your other problems or not. I'm not savy on fuel injection on cars and truck, just spit balling an idea that seems logical.
@SalvagetoSavage
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the input! It's not the o-rings. Even though that teflon tape set up is only temporary, it did the job for seating the rings. There's a little more fabrication to be done to get the fuel rails to sit correctly on the ITBs. The bracket is just not sturdy enough at the moment, and allows the injectors to back out once it sees enough pressure build up. Right now we're thinking it's more of an issue with our injectors or our tuning!

Guys I have not watched the whole series so I am not sure if you have some sort of scavenge pump to pull out the oil from those turbos. Normally they drain by gravity, but in your case they are so low they could be flooding and causing even more issues on top of the fuel rail/injectors/orings

That's definitely going to be the next thing we add to the set up. The problem is though, a lot of what's dumping out is mostly gas. So we have to address that issue first!

Love the struggle! It's real! Not just the canned tv version of how to build cars.
