To factory reset. Unplug the lights. Hold the button. While holding the button plug it back in. Keep holding till the lights go red. Then release the button. You should be able to see Twinkly WiFi. This helped me with one set. My other set keeps disconnecting as soon as I try to connect to it. CURRENTLY TROUBLESHOOTING

I did that and the Twinkly WiFi showed up. Now when I try to update the firmware, it won’t. I’m a technical person, and this should be very easy to setup. Also, it only allows me to connect 214 lights, and I have 56 more. Should have made it clear that 214 was the max.

Mine turns bright green when holding the button down, then one light turns pink, turns back to all on the green. Won't show bright red at all.

This should be top comment. I bought one second hand and it wouldnt show the wifi untill i idid a reset. Shame that the guy in the vid doesnt mention this.

Just setup a 720 led tree. That wifi failed was pissing me off.... Thx for the help! My kids love the tree.... Decorating early this year to bring some joy into this shitty year 🙏

Thank you for doing this, my friend...I am hopeless with wireless device setups..always getting trapped in a hampster wheel of frustration stuck on a page...your lecture just calmed me down and helped ALOT! I have learned I need to leave my local wifi and select the twinkl. wifi to make light setting changes then visa versa to go back to wifi. The lights are fun to try free-form color effects, also the double strands on the two-set must be applied in a parallel running direction from bottom to top.

I got a custom network with OPNSENSE as my Firewall serving up DHCP IP addresses to my network. Right now I have similar issues where I connect Twinkly to my WiFi however when my Android is on the WiFi it doesn't see Twinkly. Repeated the steps a few times and failed. I did everything you said about verifying my Android is on the WiFi and closed the app and opened it back up again and nothing. So I figured the initial SSID of Twinkly had the last six of the MAC address. So I looked to see what IPs were leased and sure enough Twinkly has an IP on my network. So Twinkly is connecting fine but for whatever reason I cannot get my Android app to see Twinkly while on the same network. Have you encountered this?

These things are crap! First their WiFi network wouldn’t show up in my list. Then when I try to update the firmware, it doesn’t work. Just says “uploading first stage” and then says it failed.

You sir, get a big like from me for this one! I ran into a problem where the GEN II controllers stopped connecting to WIFI this year after 2.5.6 firmware update. This ended up being the ONLY way I could get them reconnected to the WIFI. As you mentioned, the app bugs out and tells you it hasn't connected even though it can connect. Now the only problem I still have is trying to map multiple strings on the same tree together at the same time. Currently only know how to map them individually and the string on the lower half doesn't map correctly on it's own because the Twinkly App thinks it's all part of one single tree so after I do the mapping, the pattern arrangement it thinks the bulbs are in is completely wrong compared to what it really is. The bottom of the half of the tree doesn't do any of the effects correctly. The top half looks great (beause it did map properly as it looks like a small tree).

My application keep closing when i ask it to update in the "effects" section. And when i try to do a patteen by drawing it and save it, it doesnt. It goes back to original setting. Any help please? And it dpes same thing with the phone of my boyfriend (samsumg s21)

Thanks. I couldn't get the initial WiFi connection to work. Switching my phone back to 5ghz threw up an error in the app telling me I was on the wrong network. Switching to 2.4ghz (which I was on in the first place) immediately solved the issue. 😁

I bought two sets of 250 lights and put them on my tree. I started putting them on from the bottom as I put on the layers while working my way up but the issue I’m having that it’s not picking up two sets and it only able to pick up the top half. I was so excited and at the end tried everything to try to synchronize them. Also having issues on connecting to my wifi. I’m at the verge of taking them off and returning them. Any suggestions before I return them?

Can you please help me. Twinkly Christmas tree will show up on my wifi but says no internet access. I have reset the tree many times but it won't like me and my password. It automatically just tried to sign into wifi. I have forgot that network but it will remember it. Help please going crazy for 3 days over this. Thanks.

I did what u said and Ignored when it says not connected. I Exited the app and boom it’s linked to app. I have 2 600led and connected well. only thing is I can’t sync with each other can’t map the other set keeps saying cannot map because it’s already shared?

Every time I "apply" a setting, power off or unplug my lights, they will turn off and they don't come back on..until you delete them, reset them and the reinstall them. It was working fine until yesterday morning.....how do I fix this... TWINKLY won't help me. I've been trying to get their help for over 36 hours.a white "slow" flashing light occurs when this happens, and then they are a bugger to reset...I have 9 twinkly device's and I've been using them for over 3 years, and I've never experienced this problem..

So i have the gen 1 pre lit twinkly tree and the wifi for the tree to connect isn't even available for me to join. I've tried everything it seems and i can not get the wifi to pop up for the life of me, it's stuck on demo mode..

I have two 250 strands and hooked them up easily last year. Now this year, they will not connect. After deleting the app and reinstalling and resetting lights etc. I can get them on but NO MAPPING OPTION. Why can I not map my lights?

Bro nothing fucking works I’ve returned it twice and exchanged twinkly, it’s so fucking frustrating. It’s not showing me twinkly from my wifi. Idk it’s fucking garbage. It’s shit. I paid $91 tax included for shit, if I don’t get it running today, I’m just gonna return it back. Fuck it.

I am SO frustrated. As another person commented, Twinkly support is not good. I'm on year 2 with these lights, some connect with ease, others not at all. While I appreciate the time you took making this video, it is not detailed enough. Speak to your audience please. Some of us do not have a networking background and you cannot assume we understand details you haven't mentioned. I will continue to look around for a more comprehensive guide to help me connect these lights to my home wifi network.

And somehow that is my fault? Thing are not always meant to be easy as 1, 2 and 3. If you don't have a networking background of baseline knowledge you should not buy things like this.

The majority of your issues if not all are going to be Wi-Fi related. That being, Wireless frequency, wireless noise and or traffic. Wireless AP (access point placement) wireless channels etc etc. Goodluck

Bs..... I have had these 2 days now and I can not get connect. It is totally failing. I have closed down app... uninstalled app. Re logged in to app. Taken off the light codes for wifi. Reinstalled codes for wifi and entered the passcode given . Still no connection. An now second strand won activate now and work with phone. An your estimate of save a hour has gone into days. I spent over 300 for 2 sets of 250. This is my first year with my 3 yr old grandson. An I wanted it to be special but it's not for me . I can usually figure out tech things with in hours. But this has me stumped big time!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m in the same boat I brought 2 sets and one will connect easy as the other set won’t connect. I deleted the device on app and other set connected easy for some reason mine won’t let 2 devices be connected at same time. Starting to be a pain in the ass

@@Realdantheman99999 hello . I did get both directly connected to my wifi. Then they both lit up green . There for I was allowed to group them together in the join area. So when I did that. You have to push button on music dongle and then you only have music dongle light choices. Which they never tell you in the videos. It will open some really neat light designs. But you can't edit those. So I had it hooked up directly for 2 days and one of my strands went out. I tried so many ways to get them back on. By this time it was 2 weeks and a half of frustration working with these lights . I was about to cry. All I wanted was a cool tree for my first Christmas with my grandson. But big fat NO. I was lucky the place where I bought them from is refunding all my money and dont want back the lights. My husband disposed of them. He was already upset I took almost 3 weeks of my life and won't get back on these lights.

Twinkly is asking me for a Wi-Fi password? I tried my twinkly password for the app and no luck. Have no idea what that pw should be I googled and found that 20152015 maybe the password and it does not work. I am using a twinkly tree system.

Found it! Twinkly2019 is the password in case anybody loses it. I had to download the manual to find it.

So if anyone ever figures out how to use these please post. I need very simple but detailed instructions (not a techie person) and seems like the most important steps get left off of all the commentary I've seen. I have tried everything. When I try resetting instead of steady on red I get green but I hold the button forever and nothing happens, they don't even come on until I let go of the button, then for about 5 seconds they stay on then starts flashing off and on - so frustrating. This is my 3rd Christmas and last year was a nightmare, eventually I got them to at least sort of come on (they flash off and then on constant). I paid over $700 for this tree and the 1st year they worked but after that not so much. They have probably the worst support I have ever encountered, had all the issues with the 100 questions that I didn't know how to answer and wanted me to provide video on how I was setting this up - wasn't sure what on earth that was going to do but I did it, then they closed my ticket because they had told me how to do it. Seriously? Sounds like they don't know what they are doing.

If you don't have a baseline knowledge of networking I am sure why you would pay close to $1000 for these. The internet is filled with forums and videos and reviews of these. Clearly you didn't bother to do research prior to purchase.
