Hi everyone! Have you tried Twinmotion 2020 yet? Let me know in the comments below!

Hi Justin, I found there are very limited plant options in Twinmotion, trees are more for forest but not nice for single house if we want feature trees like Acer, buxus, pleached or anything for formal gardens. I'm a landscape architect so plants are very important for us, and it's harder to place small shrubs tidily than in Vectorworks, also hard to find 3D plants outside, maybe 10 skp plants only 1 of them can be used in Twinmotion (others just shown as 2d images). Do you have any suggestion on this? (Lumion maybe better but we only have MAC in the office) Also I have another question, when I create 3D in VW, my house level maybe RL 50, after importing in TM, the ground can be lift up but the background doesn't seem being lifted up along with, I'm new to TM, not sure if there's some setting for this? Many thanks in advance.

great vid! always learn something new watching your vids. I do wish everyone stopped comparing lumion to TM, like ... we get it. its better for a reason- go pay for that reason. otherwise , Be happy with the free.... freeeeee software which consist of megascans bridge, mixer, unreal engine, free assets in unreal, two versions of twinmotion, technically free models through using sketchup direct link ..list goes on. quit complaining people!!

Great video as always Justin! But you didn't talk about the detailed grass pack. I am having slight problems. Like I cannot scatter the detailed grass pack to a desired density. And painting is out of option cuz they removed the feature to paint with the detailed grass pack. Hope you will make a video on it soon.

Which detailed grass pack? Maybe I missed this particular feature - is there additional grass somewhere you can't paint? Because all the grass I tried painted fine

@@TheRenderingEssentials The "border detection" grasses are now in a separate folder called "Detail grasses". Before ALL the grass were in the same grass folder. But now for some reason the the "border" grasses are separate. And TM seems to have removed the feature to paint with the "border" grasses. You can still scatter it tho, but it's trash tbh. Hope you'll look into it!! Thanks!

@@firstnamelastname061 Will have to look into this - being able to paint the border grasses is pretty important, so this seems to be an odd decision - thanks!

there are also deatail grasses to use in small areas and borders. it's kind of not much useful right now, because there is a very simple parameter that should be included, that exists on Sketchup Scatter plugin. For scattering in surfaces, there should be a DISTANCE FROM BORDER parameter and a INVERSE distance checkbox. So for grasses, you would increase the checkbox until no grass model is overlapping the border. Then you select the DETAIL GRASS model in the scatter group and select INVERSE. Not, that one ONLY gets close to the borders, instead of being used all around the surface (they are much more of a burden on FPS) Right now, the solution for this is to MANUALLY change the geometry by adding borders to it. So let's say you use Sketchup and have this square for grass with small walls around the edges. At TM2020, the grass scattering will overlap over the small border wall and even float in the air. To avoid that, create a maybe 30-40 cm "border" model inside that square... with the OFFSET tool. (or Surface Offset tool from the plugin, if it's a complex surface) So now, being two different groups, in the inside square group you scatter the normal grass, in the offset outside group you scatter the detail grass. Too much work, depending on the scene, for something that could be solved by a slider and a checkbox.

Erasing the grass outside the surface area is frustrating too, especially if you have large area of grass. Lumion has better scatter tools and grass material.

Great video! I'm working on a project that will require the same kinds of actions. Just wondering if you find it easier to create terrain and group it in SketchUp or sculpt terrain in TW2020 to match what you had in mind?

I found the SketchUp option to be far less stressful for my computer. Whenever I am sculpting large terrain surfaces in TM I tend to get frame drops

Thanks for the vid! Although you also can edit scattered surfaces after you've placed them. Just select the scattered surface, then select the objects you wanna edit on the bottom menu, and clic on settings! Now you can adjust the tint, etc
