A webcam placed by KXMC-TV in Minot, North Dakota to keep an eye on the rising Souris/Mouse River expected to flood a large part of the city captures the 13 hour late eastbound Amtrak Empire Builder departing from the station, which is just slightly to the left of the frame. A short time later, the 2 and a half hour late westbound Empire Builder arrives. The rising river is behind the whitish sheets somewhat visible behind the tracks near the base of the treeline. This camera is intended to show the river topping the dikes and beginning to pour into the city.
Audio from on board the trains came from the Minot area scanner feed hosted on radioreference.com.
Amtrak service through Minot was suspended following these trains since the tracks are expected to become impassable.
