Hi Seun, I'm so glad I found your '3 years worth' of videos. I'm from London UK, but I now live in a small area in Italy, where there aren't many black people and literally no hairdresser for black hair. I have spent many years ruining my hair, but you've made braiding, crocheting and weaving look so doable...So I'm going to start doing my own protective hairstyles. Thank you.

I am going to try the second pattern again. My Teacher school photo turned out very nicely with my braids in the second pattern. My hair was very jard to braid as it's short. But since I started doing it, its gotten twice as long. I also do box brainds in the front with crochet braids in the back. I hope adding the cuban twist hair to my cornrows will make it an easier, more successful install. Thanks for sharing!

Wow this is a great quick & easy pattern!! I have 26" hair and it can be work crocheting it smoothly so it's not lumpy when you sleep at night or lay on your back. I usually split it into 4 braids & crochet those in. It falls great, I install with 30" freetress medium #30 color box braids. TBH I don't care a ton about it looking like individuals... it is crochet & takes 3 hours to install so I am not expecting results of something that takes 11 hours to install!!

Most likely by doing protective styles such as these featured in the vid! Keep your hair tucked away for most of the time to avoid excess manipulation and your hair WILL grow when coupled with other habits such as hydrating, moisturizing, trimming when necessary, etc.

Cause KZitem says black women need to hide and suffocate their crowns for months at a time because it’s “protective styling”
@MsMufet03
4 жыл бұрын
I have long natural hair and I never did “protective styling”, didn’t see the point but after 10+ years of being natural I got bored with my hair. I tried crochet braids a few months ago and I absolutely loved it. It was a way for me to switch up my style without damaging my own hair. I can have a shorter length without cutting and a different color temporarily plus I get a break from doing my hair every day 😃
@KO-D00M
4 жыл бұрын
@@canreach100subswithnovideo3 Is this directed toward me? In any case, "hide and suffocate" are negative connotations for a good reason, and that's definitely not the implication of my response. Keeping ends tucked away is a great addition when trying to protect hair and retain length... KZitem or not. Black woman or not. People do grow hair without keeping ends tucked away, but to avoid possible counterproductive efforts, it's would be wise to keep ends tucked away... which legitimate protective styles support. As an example, month-long twists on a person's natural hair is a legitimate protective style which aids in length retention. And that style doesn't "hide" or "suffocate."

I love this braiding style pattern for the front of the hair but you never really showed us what the back looked like. I love that style because I find it difficult with long hair beyond the shoulders, a braiding pattern that keeps your crochet flat. Always trying to loop the rest of your hair within the braids and keeping the crochet flat without looking clunky.

I'm really bad at doing that type of cainrow, I can never seem to get the parting straight at the same width from beginning to end. I can only do the usual two from the centre or side parting and do the cainrows at the side of my head lol! I find that whenever I do these type of cainrow the plait doesn't stay it eventually loosens because of my hair quality, I will probably have to include a strand of synthetic hair to help keep the cainrow. I'm gonna have to practice my partings now as I'm gonna try and do the crotchet braids as another form of my protective hair styles.🤞🏾 Wish me luck.

I love this video however I would also like to see how the back turned out. Does the back fill in nicely as the front? The back braids are usually thicker and bulkier than the front. Does the crocheted braids lay nice not revealing the bulkiness? Can you style the back without revealing that they are crochet braids?
