cool video but let me explain what i see in this video. You saved so many ppls lives in this video, you prevented so much heartache. You saved the kid from getting hit on the bike, which in turn save the cop from a world of trouble along with the department and the kids family, you saved your child from seeing a disturbing image he would have never forgotten. the officer would have never gotten to the call which apparently was important leaving his partners in danger, which in turn would have been bad for the people they were responding for. So in closing your a hero..lol thanks bud

+Massey “Massey4Business” Forbusiness He has a very valid point. We try our best to prevent any collateral damage while on our way to calls. But no matter how many lights and sirens that we have on our vehicles, No matter how safe we respond, Etc.. There is always a chance of something tragic happening. You did a great job making way for the officers as well as preventing any injuries from occurring. Good Job!
@DallasSniper

As a 24 year veteran in law enforcement, there's no reason for a squad car to be driving that fast on a residential street while code 3, especially blowing through a stop sign. Had that 2nd squad hit the bicyclist or wrecked into cross traffic or parked car(s), EMPD and the city would be paying millions in a lawsuit. Besides that, at the speed the officer was driving, he would have sustained serious injuries had he wrecked out. Unfortunately, too many officers around the country have been killed over the years due to their excessive speeds. The emergency lights and siren doesn't automatically give emergency vehicles the right of way to haul ass. It simply is asking for the right of way while driving with due care and caution.

It ould of been ordered that way by the specific PD. As with any car, there are options that can be added. I've never seen one with a skid plate myself. Do people go offroading a lot near you? or a lot of bumpy roads like this intersection? Here in CA, a lot of intersections are like that for water drainage. Not that it helps, just makes a river between the sidewalk and curb during bad rain as we have very few drains off the roads.

Thanks. This is in the city of El Monte, CA. It's just over 12-13 miles east of Downtown Los Angeles. Los Angeles county. Another thing too is the “time” of day this happened. It was about 3:20 pm on a Friday. On that day the local elementary schools let out at 2:05 pm. M-W at 2:50 pm Thursday and Friday 2:05 pm. Point is the streets were emptier than usual but then again the police is aware of that and probably chose that route due to foot traffic. IMO.

+Branden Schenkhuizen as a professional mechanic YES it is very bad to jump the car doing that you can damage the oil pan motor mounts control arms the shocks/struts blow the tires break the brake lines/fuel lines depending on the kind of car you have of course now these CVPIs have beefed up parts in them so they can take the beating but it was still bad for the officers to show boat like that bad for the cars and risking the safety of the officers and people on the roads they need to be re trained on the EVOC
@joyride2013

+wolvesone Unless your motor mounts are really really worn out jumping the car shouldn't do a thing to them. This is nowhere near the force they'd experience in an accident.

yes it is bad but what the police unit is built for. it breaks it can be fixed. when life is at stake it has been considered moot. some agencies do have policies in place to literally slow at these type intersections. I've seen some require to pull off pursuits if area has many dips or humps plus medium to heavy traffic or peds. cali pusuits hardly are broken off for felony violations. but can occur. but to answer yes it is bad for the car over time in some cases one time doing that can cause numerous issues. why they have a fleet to handle repairs and usually have it inspected sometime after or scheduled intervals for the units.

I lol'd when the 2nd cruiser caught air. Bet he caught some air off the driver seat too. Highly doubt they do it purposely though. If your doing your job properly, while responding (likely code 3) the last thing that should be on your mind is catching air @ an intersection because a pedestrian is filming. The last thing a cop wants is crashing his cruiser and the dashcam/cruiser data recorder showing him accelerate as he approaches a 4 way intersection with a clearly visible large bump.
