This is the best demo I have seen on trimming the half square rectangles. When you mentioned you were a lefty I understood why I followed you so well. I am also a lefty and proud of it!!!❤😊

Thank you so much for this. I am a quilt teacher in Canada. With the price of rulers combined with exchange, the majority of my students are not purchasing specialty rulers. So I have been searching for a clear concise vid on you tube for them. Your's fits the bill. I'll teach them but your vid will serve as a reference they can use again & again. Sincere thanks for taking the time. ❤

This block is one of those that if I didn't have Deb's ruler (or TriRecs tool), I wouldn't bother to make it. I make hundreds of the blocks for projects. The efficiency of the tool for both time and fabric is unbeatable. Rulers are an investment. I like to have them for my foundational blocks where they more than pay for themselves in time, effort, money.

what about the size of the rectangle before sewing and cutting? Do we have to cut the rectangle bigger than the desired sewing size?
@BlueBearQuilts
Ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. Later in the video, at about 6:57 I explain that the original rectangles were cut at 3 x 6 and they get trimmed down to an unfinished size, once they are sewn and cut, to 2 1/2 x 4 1/2.

@@carmenbailey1560 Hi Carmen. Thanks for watching. As a lefty, it can be confusing watching videos with left handers. What I have learned over the years is to just reverse everything from what they do.
