Iron horse. I’m 36 I have a degree in law and am also a qualified quantity surveyor. For 27 years I suffered from poorly controlled diabetes and as a result of diabetic complications my kidneys failed and I have also been reduced to 6 % sight. I had to give up my cushy well paying job but I didn’t mind as it brought me back to my first & only love which is the timber industry. I recently passed all my felling tickets. The point of my message being to never let your health stop you from what you love to do otherwise a big part of you will have already died. Best videos on you tube.

You are certainly looking like you are feeling better. I was wondering earlier today how you were doing.. I'm happy to see you are well. You answered a question that's been ratting around in my head lately, about if cutting the pipe flush in the exhaust can or having some pipe in like you explained was the right plan. I was going to experiment some with that and I still might when I test the different locations of the pipe. I had a chuckle to myself when I was checking the squish on the original cylinder on the little 34cc Poulan 2150 I'm playing with. The squish was so big the solder diddnt even dent lol. It still pulls awesome after porting and I actually ran it with a 36" bar and it worked great! I ported the exact same saw last year for my stepson but I used the aftermarket cylinder and the squish was right where it should be and I can definitely tell the difference. Proper squish and better compression on the little saw helps a ton.

Definitely a sharp looking saw! I got the g660 pro a couple weeks ago and agree, after a basic tear down and reassemble to check it over, they've Definitely made some improvements over the "blue saws" from years past👍 squish on mine was .028 so I left the gasket for now. great to hear you're doing better!!

I just wanted to send along my sincere thanks for clearly presenting the two non-porting mods. Namely, the base gasket deletion and stock muffler modification, as discussed in this video. My old (very old) Stihl 031 never seemed to have the snus I thought it should have had. It bogged easily, even with a sharp chain and properly filed rakers. Now, after performing these two simple mods, the old girl wades through Red Fir like nobody’s business. PS: Your handle, “The Ironhorse” makes me smile. An old-timer that I used to hang with would always say this when making a point about something. He’d tell you a story, pause a bit, and then say “Iron Horse”. When I asked him about it he said, “You know ... iron horse ... no sh-t”. Anyway, thanks again for all you give us on your channel.

the aging of the body is to me a diploma of life, you earned it, embrace it and be thankful for the story it tells. Nice saw. The orange 372 Holzfforma I bought (build date October 2022) did not have the well detailed cylinder...I looked...pretty rough inside and definitely no chamfering. I suspect the better prepared cylinder is a feature offered as an upgrade and part of that "pro" package of the carbon fiber version.

Hi Ironhorse. Love your videos! I have a Stihl 881 (bought 2022 less than 10 hrs on saw) with bark box that I’m using for milling with Alaskan mill. Saw not running great in my novice opinion. West coast saw advised me not to port the saw for milling. But is there anything else I can do to improve performance? I've heard that replacing the Ignition Module / Coil with one from an ms170 would increase rpms. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The best gasket compound for these motors and motorcycle motors is the Loctite 515. The compound is anaerobic, so it doesn't dry until it's bolted up, it can sit there forever on the surface and stay wet so there is no rush to bolt up. Also because anything that gets pushed out from between the surfaces will get washed away because it won't dry so it won't mess up the flow of your ports or block small passages, brilliant stuff.

What's your thoughts on the Big Bore cylinders for the 660 and the 395? I picked up a Farmertec BB for my clone 660 and set it on my saw just to see the numbers. They were horrible. Squish was like .070. I'm debating whether or not to pitch it and buy another.
