Gotta say I absolutely love both these exercises you show here. I learned these lat pulldowns tweaks, like keeping the humerus in front of your body and not letting it move behind your body to actually target the lats and not upper back, from Paul Carter and it's made all the difference. Love the chest-supported T bar row because I can get a huge stretch and also arch my back at the top for a massive pump, but my current gym doesn't have one. Also been doing your cable row/pulldown hybrid variation the last few weeks and absolutely loving them for lats.

to mimic the tbar row you can put the extremity of an olympic barbell in the low corner of a squat rack which will prevent the bar from going anywhere. Then you take a v-handle and use it to lift the other extremity of the barbell (by placing yourself in the same position as he was in the video but without the chest support)

I've been using your version of incline pulldowns for maybe a year now, after seeing Fouad Abiad demonstrating on his channel. (He called them "Hoss Pulldowns." ) The contraction feels SO much better than conventional pulldowns. Nothing else gives me that on fire feeling in my lats. Also I've recently come to love Seated 1-Arm Cable Rows, which I saw Flex Wheeler teaching, and also more recently done by Hunter Labrada on Gasp's channel. Love that intense contraction. Thank you for your excellent tutelage Eugene!

@Dumbell-Dad

Randy, I've seen these "face down, incline bench pulldowns" performed with various cable attachments. At my gym, the one I love to use is an old double-ended kevlar-type strap, which has loops on either end. I'm able to put my hands through each loop and anchor myself to the cable, without using any grip muscles at all. It really helps me take my biceps out of the movement. But I have seen it done with Wide straight bar, close grip V-bar, Rope, Mag grips, ets. The key for me was finding the right placement and angle of the bench, so that the cable attachment does not scrap or hit the brace underneath the bench. I hope my description makes sense. But here is a link to Fouad's video that helped me a lot: kzitem.info/news/bejne/qoms322FfGqfoYI Best of luck to you sir.

For me, I really like standing straight arm cable pullover. I find it easy to manipulate the strength profile by easily altering the starting position. Downside is lack of bracing...but with lots of practice I get an incredible contraction and pump from them. I also like a chest supported db row but the downside is the mismatch of loading v strength curve as you mentioned. But that can be addressed by choosing appropriate loads for a specific portion of the range and perhaps doing/emphasizing those ranges. I do like the freedom of dbs especially from a radioulnar perspective.

Favorite 2 Back exercises (I posted these before watching the video): 1.) Single-Arm DB row (machine or DB) - Provides a crucial stretch that bilateral exercises don’t provide, and I find it hard to feel my Lats working on other movements 2.) 45-degree Barbell Row -Helped my entire back finally blow up, I can really feel my back on this movement. This exercise just works so well for me

Other notes: The barbell row does not hit the floor at the bottom range of movement, so use a surface to create a decline, or use smaller weights. Unlike machines (which are still amazing,) you can find an angle that works for you.

@danialdegouveia3395
4 жыл бұрын
@@Miiike you can do rack pulls with an inverted grip like what most people do for Deadlifts, or a double overhand narrow grip (hook grip), or with a double overhand wider grip (snatch grip). And then it's just a rack pull so it's slightly raised off the ground so less lower body stimulus and more upper body focused. Using the snatch grip with rack pulls just works way more of your back than narrower grips 🔥 it forces use to use more of your back muscles because of the position your arms are in

Top 2: 1. Chest supported machine row with variable hand positioning and a higher load at the start of the pull (love gyms that have these types where you can change peak resistance). 2. High cable row (Think top cable pulley position, while kneeling). Focus is on lats, but peak contraction ends in the mid back by leaning back a little, because it feels amazing. You've talked about having an actual high seated row in a previous video, and I'm envious of it.

Lat pull downs without a seat or bench. I usually put a mat on the floor and get on my knees. I feel like this gives me more of a stretch at the top of the lift while also increasing the range of motion. Additionally it allows me to pick my own starting point as far as the angle in which I'm pulling at. I also do pull ups but my upper back is drastically under developed. That's why I'm here after all lol. Thanks for the awesome content.
